Effiency race... is it necessary ?

For sure efficiency needs to keep rising, why, because you pay less, and can achieve more light per watt. but that's efficiency of light, maybe the new chips costs more and thus better to keep what you have I think the problem then in tents in having a switch or manual lever in lights to blow...

guys, whats the supposed benefit of running uv, and anyone have research papers with links to provide? last I recall people were saying higher trich production but... thanks

XM-L2 vs. new XP-G3, is there a difference

Hi guys, having a hard time, as I found someone saying the XP-G3 is a lot more efficient. I can't find this adding up, when I punch it in their tool, XM-L2 at T5 bin - says 123.9 lumen a watt. XP-G3 at S3 bin - says 131.6 lumen a watt. thing I get is the difference at 180 watts "estimate" is...

    Suggestions on next lights

I thin no one can answer this as we don't even know, we just throw things at the plants and it works, optimally, we don't know yet... I would obviously say reds, but I wouldn't follow that as I can't give any reason why.. the more I think on spectrum the more I just don't get it, how HPS is...

The Sun's spectral output compared to grow light spectrums

EVIl, agree with ya... all these lights can't really be compared, especially HPS, which still amazes me given it's low blue and red, and somehow fools every chart I've ever seen on growing optimal plants.. HPS is killer! I might think HPS has more water weight, but I'm just pulling something out...

The Sun's spectral output compared to grow light spectrums

for sure there is a missing link, we could never ever replicate the sun, as there might be more then our testing equipment can even pick up on.. what if there is a spectrum we don't even know about or some combo that make something else.. like synergistically.... we'll never compete as the sun...

    new to led

as I just had to write someone else... wha is your definition of "best" ???????? maybe it's budget, maybe it's highest umol/j, maybe it's color rendering, maybe it's even lighting, maybe it's simplicity, maybe it's computer controlled, maybe it's multiple panels, maybe it's simplicity with one...

Is there anything currently better then amare?

you would have to answer, what does "better" mean to you.. to me is control-ability and scale-ability .. I use my lights in various ways always experimenting so I need a light that can experiment with me.. and scale to different sizes and lighting stages and such.. with that I use helios...

    LED Companies w/ LINKS

anyone run or seen a fluence? haven't grown in a while.. but last I remember that's about as close to a perfect light as I can think.. multiple LED, spaced out.. problem I think is not enough single reds but who am I to know.. also as every light out there is, high intensity in the middle, low...

    My first CXB 3590 run...

NICE!! thanks for finally have a decent grow... can't always say I do that as I'm running different variables and different time tables and such, and seeded plants..... at least your not coming in with all this wonky shit people who are on here....... thank you for showing us results and not...

DiY LEDs - How to Power Them

hi guys, I built a bunch of bars with cree XM-L2 and wanted to "upgrade" as apparently I'm old school now, looking for advice which would be a simple exchange.. I'm guessing 2-3 cobbs? my bars right now have 18 xm-l2. honestly can't tell you drive stats, I think they were at 1.4 amp. I...

    DiY LED - Cree CXA3070

guys another question, how do you know kingbrite is legit? is there a way to test with a multimeter or something to that extent that makes knowing if what I got is the real deal? second, I'm not sure why it's so hard for cree to stamp a code on the top of the chip...

    heliospectra

wanted to let some people in on the helio, maybe some have seen it over at another site, but a lot of cool folks here.. I ripped it open, ok didn't rip it open, but opened it up to see inside.. interesting thing is it has dual lens'.. ok can't find the pics, have to update later.. second, how...
