I don't think your design will work very well. The pump will be pulling water from both sides and the side with no buckets will have less resistance and therefore will pull more water. So you wont get much if any current through your buckets. If you want a single row PULL system then redesign...

Love it! Kiss was my first concert, 1974 or thereabouts. I was all of 100lbs. Thought I was going to die in a rowdy crowd waiting for the doors to open. It was general admission and I remember fireworks lit in the crowd mid-concert. Strutter!
