Don't you think having the roots sit in stagnant water for that long would carry a big risk of root rot?

This is unlikely since they're under weak lights at the moment but if there are water droplets sitting on the leaves as I can see in the pictures its possible for the water to focus the light like a magnifying glass and burn the leaf. Just a thought. I can tell you love your plants though...
