I just bought a bag of assorted pepper seeds from my work, and when i placed them in a cup of water, about half of them sunk and the other half floated...what does this mean for each? thanks for any replies

I have recently done the same thing. My germinated sprout had already lost its shell and now I have planted it in a small pot and it looks healthy.
