I don't want to use miracle grow,, ive heard more bad story's then good story's with miracle grow

I was gunna do tea's but i dont want to compost inside becuase where i live its -30 out side, what should i add to my soil? Im more afraid of burning my plant's especially when their small with tea's because no one i know uses tea's
