Not exactly... if they are yellowing, then the plant is drawing N out of the leaves. But if the leaves haven't completely died yet, then the plant hasn't used all the N up yet.

I always clone off of flowering plants. 2-3 weeks in (although I have been lazy at times and didn't take the clones until 5-6 weeks. The thing to keep in mind is that it will take a bit longer to root and it will take a while before you see new growth.

Those plants are pretty small why not just clone them and start over?
