I have read that using a hermie to pollenate a female will create feminized seeds. It seems to me that a plant forced into becoming a hermie wouldn't carry the hermie trait, since the plant wasn't genetically disposed to be a hermie, though I'm just beginning to read up on genetics.

Never had to buy online, but from what I hear the worst that's done if they catch them in transit is confiscate them. There are plenty of solid indoor strains, indicas are great because they stay relatively smaller but can kick out a much bigger yield. Maybe look into some Purple Kush?
