Plan to do a one plant SCROG in a 5gal and was wondering if this light would suffice. Also would like to know if i would need more than an oscillating fan to keep temps down as that was my biggest issue with my 150w hps. Had good results from my hps in a space slightly smaller and am hoping the P300 will perform as good if not better than it.

Disclaimer: Im aware alot of you dont like PlatinumLED but thats what i have to work with.

Yeah it'll be fine. You could do better in the space, but as long as the led is decent quality you'll be able to grow decent bud in that space with it.

Just make sure it's 180 actual watts. You'll be disappointed if it ends up pulling only 80-90 watts.

Its advertised at 300w but states the actual watts are 180. Its the P300 from PlatinumLED LLC, not the one from amazon.

Will do. Theres alot of negative remarks about this fixture if you research it but I think it should do ok with my given space.

And if you don't like the results you are seeing in flower, you can always toss the 150 in with it..some say LED can add a bit of frost

Yup. Would just have to ugprade the ventilation. Also have a 55w 2700k cfl sitting around.

Changed to a p450 (250 actual watts) instead of the p300. I think that will be plenty for a 1 plant scrog in my tent. Going to test the setup out with a NL x BB auto from world of seeds.

Let us know how that one works out...and what the heat from it is like?

Will let you know for sure. There will definitely be one 6" fan inside the tent as of now and will add some better ventilation/filtration if need be. Maybe 2x 4" inline fans. One with a carbon filter for exhaust and one for intake.

Are you purchasing the light yourself? Because there's a few members on here that sell higher quality lights for that price.

I have the "150" version of that light and the reds suck balls. You may want to consider some CoB supplements.

I have 90w from the fixture and another 160w from CoBs in a 2x2.5x5' tent (forced exhaust). Temperatures are not an issue, you should be fine.

250w LED @60% eff would put off 100w of heat. 150w HPS @ 30% eff would put off 105w of heat
And what happens with the light?

Put the lights in an enclosed box and the 250 watt box will be hotter than the 150 watt one.

Besides that a platinum isn't 60% efficient.

Well you did say in what universe. I'm pretty sure with the LEDs heat being dissipated by the heatsink VS. The HPS. It's going to result it a cooler area in a heads up contest but I have no idea for 250 vs 150

The tent im using now is larger than the space used with my 150w hps. The hps i have has the ballast and fixture built in one, no option for a cool tube. Needless to say it gets hot.

Yes already purchased. Was unaware that users on here sell lights, been out of the loop for a while and am new to LED. I did a good amount of research before purchasing the light believe it or not. Was well aware that there are some better options for what i paid. Was also aware that there are far worse options for what i paid lol. After reading reviews/journals of peoples experiences, the p300 seemed like it would satisfy me. After all i was just looking for something to fill the void of my 150hps. Decided to go with the p450 just to be sure and i think it will fill my expectations.
