Concentrates and the future?

Hello everyone, I'm new here and new to the land of concentrates. I've just started to try them and learn about them after a friend kept going on about them. I have to admit that I like the ingenuity of people in coming up with various products. I guess my questions are:
1. What makes one better than another? (Facts or just personal opinion is welcomed. It's interesting hearing what one person likes vs. another)
2. Will there just keep being new versions created (Not sure if there is a limitation or it's more like music that you take the same parts but can create something totally unique)? Does one dominate over the others in terms of what most people like?

Well, once again just wanted to say Hi at the very least.

1) higher thc content would make one better than the other. Also purity. This is going to be due to the hash makers skill for the most part, but I believe bho/qwiso/rosin could have the highest percentage of thc, as well as retaining flavors. (Of course if your going for a cbd hash then that would be better) Matter or preference and experience as to what one is better than the other.

2) probably, people will keep coming up with new infusions, or start playing with modifying the thc molecule to make something new... Like they do w designer steroids.
Around me people like shatter. Wax is prevelent, bubble hash is not in demand, nor is kief. I only see a little rosin around and it's usually super expensive around here, so not worth it really... Until I buy a press.... Bwahahahahahaaaaa

Available in most medical and recreational marijuana dispensaries, “dabs” can include wax, hash, butane honey oil, and CO2 extracts.

No one of these products is necessarily more effective than its peers, but each comes with different characteristics. For example, most CO2 extracts include fewer solvents and other impure residues, which means many patients consider them a cleaner, safer high.

Dabs almost always get you higher than a plain ol’ joint, which can be both good and bad. Good if you’re hanging out at home and won’t need to operate any heavy machinery; not so good if you’ve never done a dab before trying it out at the dispensary.

Mr. Goodtimes and dunksndank I appreciate the input. Mr. Goodtimes, you mind if I ask you what area you're in? I definitely like the idea of it being "cleaner". I just have to relearn my tolerance level. It's like going from beer to liquor. haha

Texas... For now...

Cleaner as in less residual solvent and plant wax's/other impurities. Removing those through a process called dewaxing leaves with a higher thc concentration in your bho/qwiso/co2.

Rosin I don't have much experience with; bubble hash and kief is plant matter and would have to be further extracted to dewax.

You guys (or gals) find that your monthly spend has gone up because of the more expensive higher quality or not too much since you don't need as much of it?

I'm not sure I understand the question...?

Rosin is the cleanest extraction method.
Bubble/Dry sift squeezed into rosin is my fav.
Cleanest of solvent but doesn't it get a lot of plant wax/matter in the outcome? I have no idea, just thinking it'd have to be done w a very fine screen maybe? I'm getting tired of bho I want to buy a nice press and see what's all the hub, bub.

My bad Mr. Goodtimes, my question was poorly worded. I was trying to ask about the difference in spend from flowers to concentrates. It looks like there is a higher cost to concentrates but on the other hand you don't need to use as much. Does it somewhat balance out?

The problem is you just smoke more of it. Just like if you had an ounce instead of an 8th.

I think the ratio is it takes an ounce of flower to make a gram of concentrates (someone correct me if Im wrong) so that plays a big role into the cost. Furthermore, you want to pay more because the quality of concentrates can make a difference.

Vaping rosin is my favorite because it tastes the best and is relatively clean -yeah maybe a bit of wax from the pressing, but when vaped it's still way cleaner than all the carbon ash produced from smoking flowers...and not a chance of any residual solvents and other chemicals found in cheap, canned butane, etc. Overall, I still smoke and vape - I like to alter methods of ingestion....but rosin is the new future of concentrates. No one is going to be blasting BHO in a few years....no need for it anymore...rosin, baby!

notice I said #freshterps, not those wet sock tasting and smelling terps that have been isolated/refined.

It surprises me that THCA isn't becoming popular. Obviously it's the most potent extract you can get, aside from decarbing it to THC, but then it's more prone to degradation. With THCA I think it first has to degrade to THC and then the THC can degrade to CBN. That's an extra level of stability. Also, it's not harsh at all, not in the slightest. Must be the other shit, like terps, that make you cough. Terps may have health benefits when consumed orally but I doubt they're good when smoked. You'd have to smoke gram quantities to have enough to actually produce an effect anyway.

Limonene is a decarbing catalyst though, so extracts with significant amounts may get some boost in actual THC delivered. Can't see the other ones helping anything though. Smell and flavor may be nice but is anyone really paying for that? You could add any flavor you want for that matter with essential oils. Could make some nice spearmint flavored extract if you wanted.
