Day 31 ( blue dream ) - Single QB panel grow.

Looks like she is starting to get bulky like oprah in a jersey.
Sugar buildup is definitely noticeable. I still cant wrap my head around that i am running a simple 50 Watts and getting around 184 Lm/w with plants looking this good. I planned to add a Deep Red G8 for bloom but it doesn't need it .....

So my initial " TRIAL RUN " with this tech is a eye opening win. My original test was to see how well my plants would do with this panel. All plants grew large and i had to pull the Bubble Bomb out because it was getting too big for space and is now in another room under a separate Fluro light.

The GG #4 next to this plant just preflowered and will stay in here so i can see how this panel works for her.

Note : As far as using this spectrum ( 3000k/3500k) for vegging it has proven to grow new seedlings and young plants just fine. So i will not jump on the 5000k panels soon to be available ....... just yet.

  • HLG-240H-C2100 with 2 or 3 or 4 boards for 250 Watts
Would running more boards be more beneficial? Say 3 boards on a 240H-C2100A each?

If I am able to push the drivers to roughly 300 watts, is it around 100 watts per board if I run 3 on each driver vs 150 watts on 2 boards per driver? With the 3 board per driver, I would get more light and better spread, would there be other benefits like better efficiency?

Thank you again, I am still trying to grasp everything :)
Yes these boards are superefficient at lower power.there is a lpw chart @ dif currents on page 1 or at northerngrowlights.com that has a good breakdown .

Digikey and few other distributors have PDB181 and PDB 241 BOURNS Pro Audio Potentiometer.
Parts numbers a little complicated. Let me know if u need want me to look for a part number.
They have 20K ohm and then straight 50K ohm
Coolest thing is that they have detent option available. So far I have found only center detent once. Center detent gives a click at center position.
They also have a 10 detent model but not a stock part.
Rated 15000 cycles
I see you have more Quantum board kits on your website did you get the new slates #2 in yet?

Budz your seeing the same results I am. There is no need for a different panel for veg nor far reds for flower. This version does it all very well, I also will not jump on the other versions coming out as I see no need. Wait until you get a couple going!

Have since bumped up the juice to 150W, the girl on the left is trying to recover from a bad soil mix. These were for testing only, the plant above will go into a Scrog. These lights are a Scrogers wet dream. 2 Quantum board build with HLG-120H-C1400A wired remote outside of the tent.

Girls looking good ... What strains ?
I also noticed the better plant responses : bushing and no bleaching or light burn.
The newer boards will be great for cloning trays and SCROG.
I am interested a bit in the possible 4000k spec .... More blue . But am very satisfied with the early stage vegging this panel provides.
I have some nice strains waiting in the wings .... Mephisto Chemdogging and HubbaBubbaSmelloscope strains that i am dying to throw under this light.
Strains literally outgrew my space with this light.
I pulled the Blue Coral and Recently The Bubble Bomb out because there was too much crowding.
Are you planning more builds ?

There both Nirvana Short Ryder autos "not so short lol" in 3 gal pro pots. That Mephisto stuff is on point for sure ! I always take a look and always sold out lol. All is good as I have a few fem lines to try. I figure if I get a good pheno ill take cuts and clone them to not use up seed stock.

I had thought about adding the far red kit from Rapid LED when building this light in my head. To be honest its so simple and powerful I just don't see the need, it has exceeded my expectations although I only replaced a Mars 600. Once I get a stash I might take the time and get a different driver to play with "not even sure what direction to go on that". I thought about MacGyvering a computer RAM cooling fan to mount on the driver to keep it cool. Its not needed as its mounted on my control board outside the tent so it doesn't add any heat. When everone is crying this summer running AC units my little medicine box will be quiet and cool for sure.

More boards = more efficient

3 boards on that driver in parallel could be turned up to 300 watts at the wall. The actual board wattage would be closer to 276 the rest going to the drivers losses. I had one go to 326 watts! So I would check with a kilowatt.

Yo sup man, how do i quote? thanks for the reply. Ive been recommended 1 driver, a 320H-C2800A. It's for flowering in a reflective 4x4. does that sound right? looking for around 1100ppfd. i think i saw 1200 ppfd on a QB chart somewhere?

Cheers dude

I would go with what I suggested. The cost isn't much more and you'll be happier. If you feel it's too much light( you won't lol) you can always dim them. If you go 320 and save $20 and it's not enough light you will be buying a second driver.

I've grown several Mephisto strains, and your in for a treat! HubbabubbaSmelloscope is one of his best IMO and I've grown Chemdogging 3 times, awesome strain!

This is pretty amazing for 50 watts. What would you compare it to? 400 hps? 600 HPS? It flowers as well as and HPS?
