Hey rollitup community! Gonna be starting a grow here pretty soon and was wondering how many plants i should put inside my 10x10 grow tent.
I plan on using 4 1,000 watt lights and wanna be able to pull the best yield possible. Was thinking of putting about 30 plants inside but have recently been reading that sometimes less is better. Am also considering growing with coco fiber as my medium in 3-5 gallon pots. Any input or tips you guys have for me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time! One more thing! I Also have been reading that one 1,000 light should give you about a pound. Anyone know how true this i? Thanks again!

Not much, but what I would do is aim for the biggest plants and cultivate less than 30.
12 huge plants and it's more managable this way. Also look for strains considering this.

...But that's just me, and I am no expert. I do however think that bud size is relative to plant size. Less huge bud is > lots of small budsticks imo

What is your chosen medium you planning on growing in..dirt, hydro, coco....
I never pulled a pound off a plant in dirt.... the most I ever got was 6 ozs...
4 1000 hps is a lot of heat... just beware... I run 4 1000 in my flower room and I have to run ac too...

Good point about the small budsticks! Ya im def moving away from doing 30 plants. Thinking maybe 16 plants of 4 diff strains.

Just edited the original post! sorry about that but i plan on using coco. Also plan on putting a ac in mine as well. I know ventilation is key.

Ya you go and see how you do with 16 plants and plan the next grow accordingly. Just be aware that different strains may have different needs. (nutrient, temp, watering...)

id run 20 plants in your tent. 4 rows of 5. 4 lights in a square with 4 plants under each light with 4 down the center where the lights cross each other. All in 5 gallon pots. And 1 pound per 1k is bare minimum or newbie level

I agree with noham, 12 is good # for that space.
It is also important to note that yield is as much a factor of time and space as it is light.
A good goal to shoot for on a 12-16 week grow with good genetics is a gram per watt.
And remember the plants will almost double in size during flowering, and if you have overcrowding it will hurt your yield because you will get poor light penetration on the lower parts of the canopy. Heat will also be a factor with 4 1000W in a 10x10, so if you don't have a AC unit you should be considering it. I don't know what your experience lvl is, but you sound like you are just starting out. Growing high quality high yielding plants takes time and practice, I would set your expectations low for the first few grows, use soil or coco and take some time to really learn you strain and setup.
Good luck and happy growing!

If it is his first grow, don't give him estimates on what he should expect.- That is WRONG.
...and for already experienced growers, - you need not to.

Just don't tell anybody how much his plants should produce. It does nothing good.

Good advice on this thread. Based on my experience, 16 plants in a 10x10 tent with 4 1000W HPS is about right. Supplementing with a little Metal Halide will improve yield and quality. More important than the lighting formula is to check your plants every day, and watch for all environmental factors (temperature, humidity, nutrient toxicity/deficiency, etc.). 4000W of HID will require a lot of ventilation, and plant health can turn dramatically in less than 24 hours. As most of us in this forum will tell you, your first grow will be a learning experience (a damn fun one, at that). Don't get discouraged if you run into problems. We've been through that too.

I think 4 -1000's are over kill for 10x10.you will not be using complete 10x10 you have to have room to walk in and check plants. I think 2 -1000's and if needed maybe 2-400's on sides if plants get so tall that they block out lights. Also 30 plants will fill room up real quick if you let them get any size to them. Depends if starting from seed or cuttings. As far as how much that depends on too many factors to say.

Hi guys iam using 4 x 1000w in a 2.4 x 2.4m bud box tent. I venting via a 10" slient intake pulling air from outside via a window box and a 12" silent out. I am running in veg 2 x 1000MH and 2 x 600w HPS in a checker board layout to give the 13 girls an even spread of all light spectrums whilst maintaining MH as the main light source. Not sure if i will need air con or not as we are still in veg. I am gonna flip them when the adverage height is 800mm so another week or so i recon

tell us your experience . your goals . your legal plant # if you were legal up to a large number if i were you throw 48 small plants under those 4 1000 lights each light would have 12 plants in 3 gallon pots.. each will give you 1 to 2 each with a veg height of 7 inches all plants topped and lolly popped super cropped. hard to say what a large plant will give you . if you dont know how to top and lolly pop them major large plants just grow really tall and wont give you more then a small plant talking about a 3 foot tall plant out of veg could pull the same as an 8 inch plant out of veg . depending on your . experience . keep this in mind you can rotate these small plants every 10 weeks or so only a month of veg required a larger plant 2 or 3 months involved . and you could of about harvested already the small plants. meaning you will get 1 or almost 2 more harvest a year. small plants get the light to the bottoms less pop corn bs . less work .

Hi bud ive been growing for about 8 years, was never for quantity but quality. I grow bigger plants and they give better qualoty also in the UK a sea of green or more than circa 15 plants is classed as commercial growing and carries a prison sentance. I grow in coco in 20ltr pots using house and garden a & b canna boost and pk13/14. On my last grow i got 56z dry from 10 plants under 1800w so about 0.7g per watt which is ok. This is my first time using 4000w so ill let u know the out come, if u want to see them so far check this out... https://www.rollitup.org/t/incredible-bulk-critical-2-0-kripple-roulette-kripple-shock-original-amnesia-haze.925917/
