Arizer Extreme Q with Volcano Easy Valve mod

I originally intended this mod for a cheap-assed 'Top Vapor' (aka 'Noble Vapor') unit that I have, along with the filling chamber of a Deluxe Daddy whip, and the Volcano Easy Valve kit. The filling chamber fits perfectly in the bottom of the easy valve unit. I soon realised not only was the Top Vapor's heating element metal, and not ceramic, but the glass tube didn't have the necessary lip/gap for proper air flow through the unit. It started to fill the bag.. but the stream wasn't strong enough, only filling about 1/4.. if that. Useless.

I'd already bought the easy valve starter kit though.. $134, and a bag already tested. There's no way in hell I can afford $800 for a Volcano, so the cheapest alternative I could find was the Extreme Q. I specifically wanted a bag unit, but didn't like Arizer's bag setup.. the elbow unit didn't look sturdy enough, and the bags didn't have a valve unit. Yes, you can buy valves.. but they just aren't the same as the Volcano's. But seeing as the Extreme Q's bowls are the same diameter as the Deluxe Daddy's, I decided to spend another $180 for the Extreme Q.

The Deluxe Daddy bowl fits perfectly, and the Easy Valve housing has just enough room to sit on top without touching the top of the Extreme Q's opening. It needed a strip of silicone tape to seal the Deluxe Daddy chamber to the Easy Valve housing unit a bit better though.. it filled the bags about 4/5ths before back pressure started coming out of the housing unit. The silicone tape is good to 500F, and it's non-toxic. In fact.. the actual bowl that comes with the Extreme Q 'looks' like it has a strip of it as well.. the black band seems to have a seam, suggesting it was wrapped.. not dipped. I needed to use the Deluxe Daddy 'party size' filling chamber though.. gave about 1/8" more height to the unit before attaching the Easy Valve chamber, giving more to tape and seal to. The stuff stretches and seals pretty well, and can be peeled off and replaced if and when you need to remove the stainless steel portion of the Easy Valve chamber. The tape's $10 for 10 feet... I think I used 1 foot in total... it should last a year or so. I think. :P

After taping the filling chamber to the Easy valve housing unit, I inserted the unit into the Extreme Q, set the temp to 260C/500F, set the fan to 3, and let it run for 1/2 hour. The silicone tape seemed to have shrunk and sealed a bit more, but held out just fine. 450F's the combustion point of cannabis, so you'd never hit 500 unless you wanted to. I run it at 230C/446F myself. I used to run 216C/420F, but found 446F a bit better. Personal preference.

The best part of using the Volcano's filling chamber instead of the glass bowls such as the one with the Extreme Q, is the Volcano chamber's got a wider surface area for the cannabis, and the housing unit creates a better convection process. From a cook's point of view anyway. It just seems to cook the material more evenly... the first time around.

Party bowl on the left, regular on the right. I lost the silicone ring for the party bowl, so had to use 2 smaller rings. The ring's needed to sit the Easy Valve housing unit on.

Gives just enough room.

20170323_161137.jpg
The bottom of the Easy Valve housing unit. Those tabs need to be accessible if and when you remove the stainless steel bowl. The screen pops out when the units are connected and sealed with silicone tape still though.. you just need to remove and replace the tape as needed.

20170323_161209.jpg
Fits perfectly. An actual fitted silicone adapter would be nice though.

All sealed up. Trim as needed.

They were made for each other. :P

So after the 10 minutes of oh so hard work, followed by the 30 minutes of pre-use burn-off... it was time to test.. and a reward. :)

20170323_171049.jpg
The unit was set on fan 1, and took less than 2 minutes to fill.. I forgot to time it. I got 2 full bags from that bowl.. which was only 1/2 full to begin with.

Overall.. I'm a little pissed that my original vaporizer wasn't up to par, not knowing until after I bought the Easy Valve starter kit. My fault.. I didn't think it through enough. But in the end.. I couldn't be happier with the outcome of this mod and the Extreme Q. For less than $400, it's as close to the Volcano as you're going to get.. for 1/2 the price. You can change the bags on the Easy Valve as well.. not as easy as the Solid Valve, but it's still pretty easy. Buddy that runs the club I use said he has 4 or 5 boxes still.. said I can have them for free. :)

lol... hope that means you liked it. :D

btw.. I just realised this mod can be done without the Deluxe Daddy filling chamber. If you get the Easy Valve kit, you can sacrifice 1 of the orange pieces from the 5 bags in the kit. The mouth end of the piece fits in the bottom of the Easy Valve chamber housing, and the other end fits over the Extreme Q's cyclone bowl. Silicone tape both ends. The Deluxe Daddy bowl has a secondary screen though.. if that helps.

Also.. I timed it for filling the 2' bag on fan 1 (lowest)... 75-80 seconds.

Wow.. didn't realise this was kindergarten.
Most people don't... at first. TNT can be many things depending on how the planets are aligned on any given day. From kindergarten (often) through high school (most often) to advanced physics, philosophy and even chemistry (hardly ever, don't worry). This is a place where nothing much is taken seriously - a place of farts, trolls, socks, and penises. You can find your place. Or not. Really, it's not for everyone. Good luck, don't be a dick ;)

Getcha higher, too...
I've been here for 5 years.. this place didn't use to be a troll fest. Must be better things to do on a Friday night... like getting laid.

As for joints getting you higher... anything above combustion temperatures starts to destroy the cannabinoids, leaving you with less than if you vaped the same amount. That's why you need less when you vape than if you smoked. At the same time.. the smoke isn't the best for your lungs, and the heat damages the throat over time. I'm 50.. been toking for 35 years, a medical patient for the last 17 years, and smoked cigarettes for 20.. quit in 2009. My lungs are still good, but my throat can't handle the heat. Pipes are even worse. I've been vaping for 5 years now... I'll never go back.

Good on you for quitting the cigs, I finally did the same. I hear you about the heat, I usually smoke from bongs. I'm glad you get higher with the vaping, I know others here prefer it, as well. Out of the dozen or so times I've tried it, I just don't get the same quality or quantity of high as when I smoke. Maybe I'm doing it wrong...

I used Zyban to finally quit.. fucked me up a bit, as it's an antidepressant, made me speedy as hell.. but it worked. As for vaping though.. the first few times I tried it, I set it at 180C/356F, as that's what the Volcano Digit displays in it's ads. It didn't really do too much for me.. at least not what I was expecting. I bumped it up to 216C/420F.. wow.. what a difference. Tasted like smoking oil. But it still wasn't enough for me. The combustion point of cannabis is about 450 or so, so I bumped my 420F to 446F/230C.. getting the maximum amount of cannabinoids before combustion. Again.. huge difference. Super sweet until the 4th bag.. but I've been reading that may be the norm for most vap temps. It definitely gets me higher on less bud though. If I smoked in joints, I'm looking at 2 oz's per month.. and then some sometimes. Since I've been vaping.. I'm lucky if I go through an oz per month.. only happens if the strain I bought wasn't up to snuff. I used to smoke bongs, even loved making them out of whatever I could find. I'd go through even more than in joints though. The flame kills most of the THC instantly, and you need to inhale so much just to get a decent toke through the water. If I'm exhaling mass clouds.. sure, it looks cool.. but it's a waste. Smaller tokes means the lungs can absorb more of what you inhale before you exhale. Sounds trivial.. but when you're on a budget, every toke matters. lol. :P

btw... that $380 I quoted for the gear, is in Canadian funds. If you're in the States.. take at least $100 off that. And that's before any medical discounts anybody has. Also.. on top of being more cost efficient in the long run, and healthier for your lungs and throat.. depending on where you live these days, even if cannabis is legal.. like it's soon to be nationwide here in Canada... you may still have to abide by local smoking by-laws. Many cities in Canada, including here in Vancouver.. have no smoking rules in apartments, condos, townhouses and basement suites. Vaporizers are ok though. No actual smoke, and hardly any odour.. except a sweet honey smell.

Well.. just did an upgrade, allowing better access to the screen, as well as the ability to remove the steel sleeve of the bowl without having to remove/replace the silicone tape.

I originally bought the plastic housing for the Easy Valve.. just the plastic replacement, no metal parts included. I needed to see if the thing would fit with the bowl I already had, but didn't want to spend $85 for the complete Easy Chamber if the thing wasn't going to fit. Figured $11 for just the housing would be a cheaper test before committing myself to the full kit. The complete Easy Chamber is $85, and a single Easy Valve bag with mouth piece is $25... but the Easy Valve kit is $135, and comes with the Easy Chamber with extra pin tabs, 5 bags with mouth pieces, a concentrate pad and extra screens. Obviously the kit is the better deal.

But now I have the extra housing... this is what I used for my new mod.

That's it. Pretty easy. The steel bowl can still be pushed out through the bottom as usual. The pins should stay in place.

Also.. i tried this using the Extreme's 'Tuff Bowl'.. all encased in silicone, but the air flow was too narrow.. weak clouds in the bags and barely cooked the cannabis. the wider airflow in the Delixe Daddy bowl's much better. ;)

Nice tutorial Spuzzum. It may be easier for me to follow if I was acquainted with the Arizer parts. I have a Volcano so I reconize those parts. If you do another final draft of this tutorial, you could label the pictures and parts as you go. Maybe make a YouTube video and you'll help many more people. A lot of these young-lung pussies in TnT don't even vape.

I recommend the Arizer to peeps who don't want to cough up dough for a Cano, because I know it's the next best, but have yet to use an Arizer.

Right now I'm in the process of figuring out how to do this bag modification to the Cano.
