Growing Quality Buds

Hello RIU!! I reside in SoCal and I was wondering if it is even worth it to grow my own medicine. I'm saying this because there are plenty of clinics with extremely potent buds. So, my main question is: Is it even worth it to grow my own meds? Yeah, it would save me money but I like quality over quantity. I feel so conflicted.

FYI, I live in a 10' by 10' room. I am working with a 3' x 3' x 5' tent, 250/400w hooded MH/HPS, 6" 435cfm inline, etc. I am doing a soil grow with FFOF and planning to grow 4-6 plants at a time.

Thank you,

Greetings, IMO it comes down to operating costs. If I can produce quality product at a lower cost I'll do that, when the DSP matches my costs I may go back... Maybe.

Have you ever read the ingredients labels on buds from some dispensary's? I like my short label description. I like to show people what they are smoking and paying for.

So back on point, op costs rule my world.

You sure can grow some great flowers in your tent.Buy some clones from a plant that you like to smoke.Pick a nute company and follow the feeding chart, some like to go 1/2 what the chart dose has to say.In week's 3-4-5 add Sour-Dee to add flavor and weight.Be sure to flush last 2 weeks and dry the buds on the vine in 60 ish degrees for 10-14 days

Thank you so much for the quick replies! Just to get things straight, DSP is short for dispensary? Also, how do I like replies? Each and every one has been helpful. Much appreciation!

I am a bit worried about the smell. I am not sure if I will be able to get a phresh filter in time, but I heard good things about ONA. Does it really live up to it standards?

Thanks again!!

Peace,

P.S. About the nutes, I got a small bottle (250ml) of big bud for free from a Cannabis Con I attended. What are your opinions on Big Bud nutes?

I grow in a 3x3x5 I want a bigger tent but that's not happening right now lol. Be carful with your height in their I would recommend doing a scrog to avoid height issues with plants reaching the light I had that problem my first grow. The only thing I go to the dispensary for anymore for is edibles sometimes and vape cartridges cuz I haven't ivested into making those yet . I use a 600w in my tent but it is more than worth it to grow your own bud my last run I got 10ozs from one plant and 3 from another on a two month veg. The cost to produce your own bud is a fraction of what you pay at a dispensary. I invested no more than $500 to start up and my first grow have me that all back and some

^^ This.
The initial investment can be high with lights, tents, fans, filters, timers, etc..
but after that it gets cheap. I am about to finish a single plant hydro grow and my total investment (nutes and my electric bill was all I had to buy) was less than $100 and I'll be pulling somewhere between 6 and 8 ounces dry off of her. So yeah... less than a bill for over a half pound of dank is most definitely worth it in my mind. Plus, the act of growing this plant is wonderful and rewarding in and of itself. The only thing I'd warn you about is commitment. if you aren't willing to put the time and love into the endeavor, don't bother.

I've got about $300 wrapped up in my dealio. My tent is a 2x3x5. Hempy bucket style so I do use more nutes than some others, but much of my runoff is "recalibrated" and used in growing veggies. I'm also a noob, so I'm at a 2 plant experience level, lol. I had no idea if I was going to be competent enough to see this through, so I cut costs wherever I could. I picked up a led on the cheap, built what I could, and pressed on. I had MANY noob errors, but read as much as I could to identify and correct my mistakes. Both of my plants are likely going to be at the net in the next day or so. I supercropped them previously and they became nice bushes. I have been in veg about 6 weeks so I'll be going to 12/12 before too long.

It does take some commitment and patience, but it's pretty awesome to do. If you only want bud, then it all comes down to numbers (and your time investment should be included in your math). However if you are interested in growing and want to be certain of what went into your final product (and take responsibility for it regardless of how it turns out lol), then maybe this is something that you can try.

Just a noobs .02

EDIT: When I stated "at the net" I intended to say "at the net on my screen". With such a limited footprint I concluded that my rookieness needed to SCROG in order to avoid a cat-tastrophe.
