My new Grow Lab V2.0

Just wanted to post this for my future reference, This build is modular @ 14'-L 7'-W 7'-H, so I can just break it down and take it with me fairly easily. Two rooms @ 7 by 7' by 7's when I get the false wall in.
The goal's here:
1. Finally have a perpetual tall ScOrG after years of wall mounted screens to combat the fucking headaches they cause when you just want to grow bomb strains and constantly swap.
2. Get rolling on a off grid solar system to power these rooms. Should be fun!
3. Stop working on my back to clean/train the screens. I ain't getting any younger. Fuck that shit!
4. I'll leave this open until I find another. there's always another.

And here we go. Got $117 in this so far.

Just a update for myself to look at when this done.
Design change for the interior wall-A 40"Pocket door will work with the space I have perfectly and work the same as the rail system with a rail knockout that is removed when the door is open. leaving flush space to throw in the screen rails 2 screw knockouts.

Other than that now that i have half the outlets placed i went through and tallied up all my current draws for the equipment on hand and future upgrades, Just doing the math on the solar system, Breaker and Battery storage required. I have to say that I am beyond impressed with the Small scale of the system it will take to run these rooms for 2 days with no input from the panels.. Not bad at all!

Ran the 220 lines and just need to wait for the 12-2 and gang boxes to get here so I can finish the 20 amp circuits. Then onto framing the center wall and pocket door

finish wiring done on the veg side. Ran out of Boxes. back at it in the Mornin.
Update goal four has been established!! ran 18-3 for a udoo a homie is programing as a full automation controller, IE: AC, Co2, Tclean wire.jpg emps, RH, Room air changes auto PH for the res's all that good shit. Got a update today and sounds like the code is 85% complete already. Super stoked on that. Cost as of today total - $135.73

u have not thought in plumbing

u need a method of water draining out from any mis haps and u need method of water into the system (from my guess u are going to RO 5 stage treatment remove those variables) your going to need a holding tank for the water and a RO filter needs high pressure to work correctly

i am thinking u make a floating floor lose 6 to 8 inches but it would let u make a drain system and place to run the pipes/hoses.......as for the seal u can use a rubber stopper on the drain head if something happens and u need it pull out .....or valve on hose line

now the ? i have for u have u over wired the room (did u use a better gauge wire running it out allowing u to upgrade the breakers later for a larger load )

Simple answer to your Statement.

I run Rdwc's with external Res's, so I plumb in the bulk heads/ manifolds "quick Connect hoses on a plate" last after the area is sealed. Super easy, water isn't even in the grow area expect for buckets. Ac is also plumbed outside. this is still bare bones and a long way to go for sure so lets not get ahead of running the Electrical.
I appreciate the concern for sure but this ain't my first rodeo :mrgreen:

Forgot to answer your wire Question. My bad man.

There are 2, 20 amp two poles for the lights or 220v to each on its own breaker. the wire size is 12-3 for those. it will be fine with the led builds I have designed. 43% over wired for those circuits as far as draw goes. the 4 outlets up top and two over head lamp outlets are on their own 15a breaker with 14-3 wire. They run two light rails and 2 booster fans plus two maybe 60watt green bulbs when necessary. . More than sized for that application I feel. The outlets down low are all 20 amp ran with 12-2. The two outlets in the far right wall or "Flower room" towards the floors are 20 amp single 12-3 wire runs so the ac and dehu have there own breakers. I hope that clears up any Questions there.
So in short, yes I believe it is extremely over wired for the purpose of up grading. Although I really don't see a scenario where I can upgrade much after the build is complete. I have outlets ridiculously spaced to a point I'm laughing at the lack of power cords I need to actually untie and route from my accessories. I do see a scenario where I have to plug or blank off outlets when its done. And that's exactly how I Designed it. V2.0 is actually more around V6.0. But by far the best space I've had to work with in the years I have growing. Stoked on it!

Oh man... well that's where this project is going to become very interesting for me. So This is my first rodeo with solar. But luckily I have a close friend that has his own Solar business. So I've been picking his brain about some details that were a pain in the ass to kinda understand. The Inverter is the hardest part of this system but only because I'm in need of a dual phase "120v leg and a 240v leg. It could be very easy but I can't drop 3k on it. . So I had to find a workaround which is a transformer for the 240v leg. haha.

So far the Solar is just a design and I haven't even started acquiring the equipment so Lets keep that in mind.

Going with 300-330w panels- haven't decided yet. Final voltage will be 48Vdc- Less voltage drop to the house battery banks the higher the system Volts.
Batt bank will start at eight 6v Batts or one string to start. Easy part to upgrade as you go.
And on to the Inverter, Still shopping around for a combo "Decent/price" unit. there are so many it makes my head spin.

Sorry, I can't really get to in depth on it yet. But once I get it rolling I will document it here and we can get into all the details then.

It's been fun so far. Slow and steady for sure. Hardest part is having all my equipment in totes 10 feet away from the space. Gotta fight the urge to just say fuck it and slap some panda up, plug into the wall and start chugging along again. But it will pay off in the end. Too many years of growing in shit environments. I just got fed up with it.

I like it. I might've missed it somewhere, but are you planning on running this room sealed or vented?

As far as implementing solar power, that can be a rather deep rabbit hole, should you choose to go down it. 240v single phase is just two 120v legs, by the way.

If you have buddies in the solar business, you should be good to go, as long as there is some proper engineering experience on hand. Most solar outfits bid on preengineered and designed plans. They win the bid, the specified gear gets ordered and installed, and that's it. Sizing the transformers and inverters, specifying the wire sizes, choosing the proper overcurrent protective devices, and sorting out the grounding and bonding are usually left to the electrical engineers. Fiery death and electrocution lurk around every corner when combining separately derived services. Not trying to scare you away here, but this is something that you have to get 100% right the first time with no error. It's expensive, it's dangerous, and extremely complicated.
