She's sick

Hey guys, just looking for an opinion from experienced growers. What's wrong with her?

Growing in COCO with GH floranova bloom at 10ml/gal. 4ml/gal cal mag. pH of the water when I feed is 5.5-5.6. My meter has been acting funny so one is in the mail. I feed once every 2 to 3 days keeping the COCO moist an inch down.

To me it looks like phos. def. Maybe cal mag. Also looks like nute burn or lockout? What are the steps I should take to narrow it down and get her back on track?

Short and to the point. I can dig it. So it looks like nute burn to you? 10 days seems a bit long, especially after a flush. Why should I wait so long?

Because some nutes are mobile so for the next couple days it's already enough of them. After a specific time the leaves will universaly start to change their color from darkgreen to healthy green - at that point you could start to think about giving any more nutes, but not sooner.

If your meter has been playing up then good chance the ph is out and could then be nutrient lockout.keep us updated buddy

Look super dark they have plenty of Nutes in the leaves for the next 10 days you appear to have over done the N

Thanks guys. Picked up a new pH pen and calibration solution for both my ph and tds pen. Flushed her out 25 gallons worth. Ppm was through the roof over 2500 ppm! Ph a bit low also 5.3. I dropped ppms to 200 (my tap is 160) and ph is spot on at 5.8.

Gonna watch it close the next few days and see when she starts getting hungry then I'll start to feed maybe half strength.

How slow should I start to build the nutes back up when it comes to it? Up it a bit each feed (every day or 2) or maybe weekly? I assume she will let me know..

Also should I expect the damaged areas and leaves to die off or should I worry if the infected areas continue to get worse?

She was flushed 7 days ago and only givin fresh pH'd water. This is how she's looking..

Should I start to give some nutes again?

What could be causing the purple leaves?20170419_232145.jpg 20170419_232332.jpg 20170419_232257.jpg 20170419_232232.jpg 20170419_232346.jpg

Some strains have naturally purple leaves, others turn purple due to cold. It could also just be an anomaly from the nutrient roller coaster it's been on... Your recent pictures look much better... It looks like @vostok hit the nail on the head. Best of luck!

It's L.A Cheese from big bhudda. I find after a little research it's not so uncommon for this strain to have purple hues. Definitely eases my mind a bit....plus who doesn't like purple weed?:-P

Gonna wait a couple days yet then start to feed light

Found this to be quite strange. Only parts of the plant turning purple are the parts directly hit by the light, minus the flowers.

Here you can see where a leaf was laying over top of another preventing it from getting any direct light....

This is typical of cooler temps affecting the plant in late flower

its sap build up due to the heat from the lamp

then rapid cooling stalling the blood/sap/xylem in the tubes

now officially called anthrocycline 'shock' ..lol

see to your nightime temps as a clue

good luck

Not sure if this is the case as I'm still a noob to this whole game but from last nights reading this issue sounds like a copper issue. ie your plant isn't getting enough. It generally affects the leafs directly under the light first.

This is the list of symptoms
Cannabis Copper Deficiency Symptoms

  • Leaves turn dark with blue or purple undertones
  • Tips and edges of leaves turn bright yellow or white
  • Shiny or metallic sheen on leaves
  • Leaves may feel stiff and start turning under
  • Tends to affect leaves directly under the light
  • Buds do not ripen, or grow very slowly

Grow weed easy have a good article on copper-deficiency-cannabis which might be worth a read :)

I think you may be onto something....temps at night drop to 60F. Peaks at 81F during the day. Should I see if I can raise night time temps a bit? How harmful is this to my lady at this point? I'm guessing I'm only looking at around 3 weeks left.....should I let it ride?

Found this on Grow weed easy...

purple-phosphorus-deficiency-cold-sm.jpg

That's due to low temps. Looks just like mine. I'm going to try and bump up the temps at night because I think my growth has stalled because of it. I think the cold temps are messing with my phosphorus also. Will let you guys know how it goes..

Thanks again for the replies!

Hmm im gonna have to say that it looks like a slight nute burn i doubt its from the heat since the tips are not curved, now im not an expert so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Other than that they look pretty. Happy growing everyone :weed::leaf::leaf::weed:
