Auto 400w yields?

Trying to figure out if autos will be worth it for me yield wise. I'm an experienced grower, although my experience only lies in hydro and photoperiods.

Would it be reasonable for me to assume that with 4 autos, lets say Dinafem's White Widow Auto, under a 400w in 5 gal smart pots in FFOF/HF in a 3'x3' tent could produce at least 12oz in 90 or less days?

What do you yield under 400w with autos? Strain, plant quantity, total days?

If a new grower like myself can pull 3.25oz from an auto Bubblicious while making many mistakes, I don't why not. lol She went 96 days from seed.

My other 3 plants, 2 more bubblicious and an AK only produced ~5oz total. All harvested between 75-85 days from seed.

Still, not too bad for a noob under 400w in a bad soil combo with issues the whole way through.

MY question to you is, if you're experienced with hydro, why the switch to soil? Surely you'll get faster growth and more yield in hydro, no?

auto yield is dependent on which phenotype you get, sometimes you get a plant that's just tiny compared to the others, that's why auto's are kinda unreliable and not really worth growing, too much variation from seed to seed and no way to clone keepers makes predicting the yield of your crop nearly impossible.

Not to mention the quality of the smoke is less than their photoperiod counter parts. Basically auto's have watered down genetics.

Ok...not true but what ever makes you sleep good at night I guess.

What is your reason to move to soil? If you are a hydro guy then by all means stay with it. My experience is yields are much better in hydro vs soil given the same strains. Here are a couple of my autos. First is a Mephisto Genetics Sour Crack auto, grown under 1 Marshydro 300(180w version). Yield was 190grams dry(6.7oz) she was 65 days from sprout to chop. Next is a Bomb Seeds Cherry Bomb, MArs Hydro 300, 74(if I remember right) days from sprout to chop yield was 225 grams dry(7.9oz). Then the first Mephisto Grape Crinkle I grew. She was 71 days from sprout to chop. Under 1 MarsHydro 300(180w) and my DIY 100w Cree cxb3590 COB fixture. She was over 1,500grams wet and was 353 grams dry(12.47oz). Last is the second Grape Crinkle, she also was 71 days start to finish. I don't recall her final numbers. The Grape Crinkles were well over 30" tall and 36" wide.

I am not a big smoker but the friends I shared my crops with have said they were some of the best smoke they have had. They did not know I grew them nor do they have any idea about the difference between an auto or photoperiod plant.

These were all in simple 3.5 gallon DWC buckets with General Hydro FLORA 3 part.

Thank you all for the feedback. And beautiful plants!!

As for everyones question about switching. I am not looking to "switch" per say. I have two tents currently in my basement, one is for veg where I start in a 3.5 gallon DWC tote then my flower tent houses a 10 gallon reservoir so hauling over 10 gallons down to the basement is more than enough for me haha and I'll continue running those the same in DWC. I generally pull about a pound from that under a 600w.

That's why I am looking to just throw a third tent down there and run some low maintenance plants in fox farms figuring I'll have less work added on top of my current setup. I just wanted to make sure it would be worth it vs running some photoperiods, by those plants and numbers it sounds pretty reasonable. I do worry about soil not being as good as hydro though, I know with hydro I could replicate plants like yours @HotBunz so it'll be interesting to see how soil works out. Thanks again!

can't grow big in soil huh?

:bigjoint:Don't worry, not throwing dirt on soil growin ;)

It's just by what I've seen on here is that it appears without good experience in soil you cannot as easily produce the quicker results hydro provides with minimal experience. I'm open to hearing some tips, I have two autos in FFHF that will go outdoors soon

Nice plant btw is that an auto?
