Check out the dismal outconmes, mortality and birth death rates here, combined with the phama and insurance billionaires

Earlier this year, Cadillac ran a controversial TV ad that first aired during the opening ceremonies of the 2014 Winter Olympics. It was called "Poolside" and featured actor Neal McDonough extolling America's work ethic over other countries — specifically France.

Turns out that many of those "other countries" (including France) score better than the U.S. in one key metric not included in Cadillac's TV spot — healthcare. At least that's according to The Commonwealth Fund in their latest report "Mirror, Mirror On The Wall — 2014 Update" (pdf here).

For this year's survey on overall health care, The Commonwealth Fund ranked the U.S. dead last .

1. United Kingdom

2. Switzerland

3. Sweden

4. Australia

5. Germany & Netherlands (tied)

7. New Zealand & Norway (tied)

9. France

10. Canada

11. United States

It's fairly well accepted that the U.S. is the most expensive healthcare system in the world, but many continue to falsely assume that we pay more for healthcare because we get better health (or better health outcomes). The evidence, however, clearly doesn't support that view.

Why aren't you bitching about 10% of the GDP going to the paper-shuffling middleman of the healthcare industry. (how do those Communist afford to build islands in so pacific?)
Corporations use this new shit called technology to eliminate waste and increase profits.
I see $1.8 Billion being returned to my pocket with a computer program.

Have you thought of the possibility that you might have been dumbed down?

This is in regards to medical marijuana, namely growing your own rather than getting a prescription from a doctor and obtaining your medicine from a licenced producer.
It's a new system, kinks being worked out. This has nothing to do with the healthcare system as a whole. Nothing to do with doctors visits or surgeries or life saving procedures.
People are upset about the length of time it takes for the paperwork to come back to be able to legally grow your own marijuana if you have a prescription. I don't know where you gather they're upset about a single-payer system. Maybe just ask someone rather than taking things out of context.

And what does that have to do with Canadians disliking our health care system?
Sure the access to grow your own medicine is annoying, but it's still a possibility for anyone here with a prescription.
I don't see what that has to do with single-payer health care as a whole. It's a very minuscule part of Canadian health care that doesn't affect most of our population in the least.

never said canadians hated our system. their stories is insight into how single payer works with a population 10% of the US, so it has very much to do with single payer as a whole. thats what I'm pointing out here. 6+ months response time on a health related matter (no matter how much of the population is affected with whatever issue) is tough to defend. this is the same type of issues plaguing the VA administration (run by the Feds), yet folks are asking for more? We always need to remember: be careful what we wish for.

Medical marijuana waiting times does not prove the argument you are trying to make about a single-payer system. It’s just not the same thing at all. It would be more akin to wait times on a business licence than it is to the medical system.

So let me get this straight, you find articles about drugs not covered by provincial health care in Canada, and THAT is your argument against a single payer system? The drugs are covered under work insurance if you have any. If you’re on government assistance drugs are covered. Once you get to a certain age most drugs are paid for by the government.

Are you saying the lack of universal health care in the United States is better than the current system in Canada?
