I've seen this beast on and all I can say is OMG this thing is bright.

Plus no fan and that matters to me. Very pricey though. But my other Spectrum Kings are nice lights so I bet this is too. I see they sell a dimmer for it too. And a little reflector, I didn't see that part on the one I saw burning. IMO Spectrum Kings makes some of the nicest LED's I've seen. Built like an industrial product as well. Heavy metal and not light. I've been running mine 2 years with zero issues..works great.

you sound like a spectrum king shill
Not shilling for it but at the same time you ain't makin anything of that build quality in your tinker shop. I've seen home made units before...usually sitting at the side of the grow half burnt out.
If you grow at a certain level you haven't got time to rely on home made toys. Just like my HVAC guy doesn't buy his tools or supplies at home depot...lol
Why do you think they sell so many Gavita's....those are sold to serious players not homemade save me a few buck wizards.
Go look at some of the bigger well run grows...they ain't runnin home made. Professionals need professional equipment and don't have time to play " Red Green Games "
I always get a laugh at the guys who " oh you can make it cheaper " I got a few friends that are like that and they never owned a decent thing in their lives. Too fuckin cheap to actually buy a decent one...so they brag on about how they're effort saved them this and that. Sorry I've run businesses before...you want to make it work...buy the right shit. Like the guy who won't by a " real dehumidifer " and ends up with mold. Yup saved a few dollars there they did.
I knew a guy who made his own shirts because " they are much cheaper he said" yup and he looked like a fuckin goof too in his homemade button up shirts.
In this growing thing....you buy correct gear.....or wonder why it doesn't work at times.
For me reliability is how you make it productive.
Every grow that I've seen that cheaps out on equipment get what they asked for...inferior results and unnecessary struggle.
Like the guys who don't buy enough ventilation....good luck on consistency.
You wanna do it right...do it right.

I'm really happy with my closet cases.....I don't have much to go on as far as experience, but from what I'm seeing their working great and my whole garden is costing me about $15-20 a month on hydro. So that's amazing. Now having said that they are very expensive up front, but if you consider their life spans and low hydro it kinda works out in the end. If I was more handy I consider cobs.
I've become very intrigued in cobs lately......watching a lot of grow mouse and what not on youtube, and I know they work awesome...my biggest thing with DIY light is I be too afraid my house will burn down haha, and the only person I would trust to build me one, I would prefer to be an expert...that's what I like about the spectrum king, there just plug and play.....keep it simple...no fucking around with control panels and all that drama.

I agree the Spectrum Kings seem over priced but the quality is right up there imo. Plus of course here in Canada we are paying the premium exchange rip off. I've never priced any LEDs as I don't really use many of them. But the better one don't seem cheap when i've seen them. They actually sell a dimmer for that big unit.
But for me no screwing around is important.

I was looking at that when I was light shopping the past few days. I could not even DIY the installation of that big ass monster. Two hooks, some chain and a standard plug in is just my speed, LOL. I do like the fan-less operation but I bet those heat sinks must weigh .... more than I can safely handle most days.

These have been run 12 hours a day for near going on 6months. Not one problem.

they claim "650 Watt Patent Pending Full Spectrum LED Grow Light made in the USA. Replaces 1000W-1200W Dual-Ended Bulbs (both MH HPS)." but independent testing shows it's actually 638.6watts at the wall and closer to 860w of single ended hps. I need some new friends who can build lights the exchange/shipping/taxes is rough when ordering a premade light from the states.

Psh. Not everyone has cash coming out their ass Hippy. Besides. That light is fucking huge!

And for its price. I could probably rig up a more even spread with an array of different spectrum cobs. Each spectrum with their own driver and dimmer.

That way. If one unit kicks the bucket. I'm not going to shit a brick when I find my grow space cold and dark. Instead of bright and toasty.

So here is an update,

I have not yet had even an ok pull using the SK600s, it might be me and my newbieness using LED's. I have only pulled .5g / watt , I used to pull .9 g/watt with DE HPS's. The quality is also shit compared to what I normally do. Gotta say I am really disappointed and feeling like I have had one pulled over on me. I plan on running these lights one more month and then deciding wither to stay the course or switch back to HPS.

Sad sad thing, I have looked on You tube to see if anyone had done a video of an impressive sk600 grow I haven't seen anything of any real quality.

At this point I will say SK stay away

don't be because what you got sounds about right from what others get as well. Even though they say differently.
Its been this way for 30 years (:

Well I'm gonna change my mind about LED for the time being. Someone I know is running several of these https://fluence.science/technology/spydr/ I saw the product personally and was quite nice and the yields are up there, Now shitty part if the cost. $2300 CDN landed. When I talked to him he said if the market was at $2000-2400+ and steady he would have gone with the LED's BUT replacing 90+ lights with the Fluence Spyder $2300 is just not a good business plan ATM so they're going with 100W Gavitas at $600 which are growing some caked big ass buds for him.

I only have one LED light and it's just used by myself for germination and the first 3 weeks of growth...I love it. Made by Tasty LED and the maker of them is a member here....he has several sizes. I have the smallest light that he makes. Build quality is awesome. I think I got it for $215.

yea i dont ever understand the market for these high priced LEDs. Commercial growers don't use them so it falls to home user or small commercial growers to use but then there's not many comparative grows that show these outperforming current standard HPS/DE lights they claim to be crushing.
