Ok i made some butter with 1.3 oz of indoor kush trims and buds into 7 sticks of butter, my first time i had light green canna butter, this time i slow cooked it for 7 hours and it looks golden brown. Is it gonna be weaker? Also whats a simple food item can i make? To test the butter, something simple

Good question, I used more trim than the recipe said to use and my cannabutter is golden brown also.

Did you get very high while simmering the trim? I hallucinated very badly, puked my guts out, blacked out on my steps, woke up the next morning high as hell, puked my guts out again and didn't get better for 2 days. Now I am afraid to use my butter. LOL It was the strangest thing, I am a heavy smoker and this caught me way off guard. I think I will need to wear a respirator if I try making cannabutter again.

It wasn't a good feeling. It was like being drunk, tripping, smoking herb and having the flu all at once. LOL.

Yeah I stood over the mixture and stirred while it simmered on low heat. I was unintentionally huffing the fumes and I didn't turn my fan on. By about 2 hrs into heating, the fumes had screwed me up. I had a towel over my mouth and nose and was barely able to physically strain the butter. It made me sick as hell, so things got ugly, very ugly!

when i make butter i cook it in a double boiler to maintain a low temp and i keep it covered. this way all the psychoactive chemicals do not vaporize and those that do at such a low temp do not escape. in my experience if the butter is golden, that means that you caramelized it and might have cooked it too high, which would vaporize some of the psychoactive goodness instead of capturing it in the butter.

So ypur saying a green butter is more potent? Last run was my first attempt and i did it at really high temp like 325 for 2 hours and it came out green but cookies got me baked. This time i had used dried and cured trims 1.3 oz with some buds, the trims was also very frosty considering it was led lights grown. Last run was outdoor weed.

325 is right below the temp which THC vapes at ( about 340 i think) water boils at 212. so when i cook in a double boiler, the butter heats at this temp which is much lower than most of the psychoactive compounds' vaporizing point. how did you know the temp was 325 the whole time? did you do it in the oven? or used a thermometer? the brownish color usually comes from the solid in the butter scorching so its not a direct indicator of how potent the butter is, but it may tell you how hot the butter was cooked at. for me i get the most potent edibles when i cook low and slow for atleast an hour, covered. if it starts to stink like weed, that means i am vaping my plant materials instead of cooking them into the fat.

Your Budder should be some shade of green . If it looks brown , I think you over heated it . It will still work , but not taste its best . Make of pan of Krispie treats and get your buddies to share in your endevour. Cocoa Krispies hide the budder taste well .

Today was my first time making cannabutter and to be fair I had a couple mixed drinks of Jack &Coke and smoked a bowl, but during making the butter I felt extremely loaded (I also licked the spoon) and got a bad stomach ache and had to lay down for an hour(zoned out on Netflix)... I can't wait to try these brownies im gonna make

To decarb flowers and trim you need to let it go at 210F for at least 2 1/2 hours. Then slow cook it into the butter. But I have been making canna coconut oil and like it better than butter right now. Baked several kinds of breads and cakes so far. 3 ounces of bud and trim into 16 ounces of coconut oil. We have been using 2 TBS per cake mix, and it's plenty strong./

Ive been reading this and seeing people replying saying that if the butter is golden brown that its overheated. I made two separate batches of butter last night with two separate batches of weed. One was from a friend who grows everything organically and the second was a medical THC/CBD weed from another friend. I decarbed both in the oven at 250 for 45 minutes and then simmered both in the butter at a very low temp on the stovetop for an hour and a half. The organic came out dark green and the medical came out a golden brown/yellowish color, so I cant see it being an overheating issue. We've consistently been using the organic up until this week when we got the medical stuff and its always been dark green. This is the second time we've cooked using medical and the first time it turned out golden brown/yellow as well. Im gonna make some cookies tonight, so we'll see what happens.

I think it's much more simple than people think. the more green things you make your butter out of the more green it will be. I've done batches of fan and sugar leaves and it turns more green. When I use all bud it's more yellowish brown. The green colour comes from chlorophyll.

Definition from wiki:

Chlorophyll is any of several related green pigments found in cyanobacteria and the chloroplasts of algae and plants.

And in my experience the more green the less potent my butter is. That being said, I've never made butter that diddnt do the trick.

Sounds kind of weak to bake with unless you are just eating it on toast. I usually put about an oz. of sweet trim and popcorn buds in two and a half sticks and make a full batch of cookie bars (40). Are you adding water to your butter to keep it from going above 212F? That will keep it from burning and vaping off your cannabinoids. Here is my method. Note: 2.5 sticks will become the 1c called for in most cookie recipes after loses (milk solids).

Decarb 1oz good trim 40m @ 240F > Add to 2c H2O and 2.5 sticks of butter low simmer 3 hours > Strain out material with fine cone strainer > Place butter water mix in round tupperware container and leave in fridge overnight > Remove solid disk of butter from container and discard water > Use cannabutter to make Toll House cookie bars > Makes 40 bars and half of one is usually all I want.

I add a 1/4 cup of water per pound of butter directly into my weed/ butter mix and I use double boiler method so its just cooking off the steam of the boiling water. The water in the mix is just insurance that it doesn't start to cook off all that good stuff. After it's done throw it in the fridge over night and in the morning I cut around the edge and it pops out leaving the little bit of water underneath

quick question , i been maken canna butter via 1g of bud per teaspoon of butter , my typical method is decarb 234 deg for 30 min , then double boil decarb'd bud for 1hr freeze 30 min , re-double boil for 30 min and worke'd well , but i been thinking now it's hot as fk n i don't wanna boil water for 1-2 hrs , so can i get away with decarb and infuse in oven , as per decarb at 235 deg for 30 min , then add butter n lecithin then n put back in oven for 30 min to infuse activated thc to the fat's ? , just did that , waiting on results ( p.s. i have at one time or 2 saved nothing but roach paper c'n as the resin on the paper is activated i tried adding a bunch of roach paper to butter in a double boiler and WoW , i got high as hell just off of nothing but roach paper LoL ) since then i save the papers and at the end of the month my last high is off of nothing but roach paper LoL )
