3 amps is the recommended maximum, I understand.

So they should be able to do just over 160w per board but that seems pretty high.

the context of the question is about managing 1 board with the minimum wattage needed, with different sized plants and different needs. Slate 2 here.

Turn that light up to 50 watts and see.. Once the plants adapt go all the way..

Thanks @HydoDan! did it. for my veg, all the way means 117w. I'll keep on monitoring them.

I would do both don't worry about the stretch so much when you up pot it you can bury the stem to the point of your liking

I assume that this could cause stem rot or something like that. Does the cannabis main stem act like the tomato does with short and fat stem roots? Hope i'm understandable.

Yeah, you can bury a cannabis plant in the ground much like a tomato plant. Roots will eventually grow out of the stem.

Can I run a kit without measuring watts or must I be able to measure? I own a 260w kit and haven't used yet

No reason to measure ... The kit was built around the specs setup by @robincnn and @Stephenj37826 ... Just put it together and enjoy.

I'm at 18ins away

I'm finding depending on strain 18-24" to work very well

Seedlings where over 1ft from the qb@25w and stretched. Bumped the board to 55w and stretched from 1" to a bit 1.5" overnight. Now i got them to 8" from the board still @55w under not exactly direct light, but close enough. Let's see...

edit: got them 5-6" under the board with the clones @75w.

If you use B type driver and the potentiometer we have on the site it has a 50% "click".
