DIY with Quantum Boards

Quick question!

I'm getting ready to get my hands (if i'm quick enough) on a 260w kit.

I assume you can chose spectrum, and correct me if i'm wrong but for flowering and perhaps some minor veg the best spectrum will be 3000k right?

But my main question is if I can choose the driver for this kits or when you buy them you get a specific one with the ideal mA, like 1.4mA or whatevs?

I mean, i saw what robin wrote before about most of the 304 3000k going to 260w kits with 1050mA but I was just wondering if you can choose.

As you can see I don't want to miss even a second to make the purchase and If I can choose I was wondering what the ideal mA will be, and if cant', then it doesn't matter hahaha.

Also I got confused since the video posted on the site showing the kit review showed the a 2100 driver
The kit comes as is, or you can purchase (board, driver, heatsink) what you want and how you want it. If you are having a hard time deciding then go with a kit (easiest solution for most people) but if you follow the LED crowd and know how to match boards to drivers and want true customization then buying each part is the way to go.

Based on your questions I would suggest you get the kit, yeah 3000K would probably be best, similar color rendering as HPS

Dude someone definitely pissed in your cheerios this morning.

Your little tantrum is uncalled for. I simply letting another member know they can also grab the QB boards from him, and there is stock at the moment.

There is tons of cheap crappy drivers out there, and then there are those that come with UL certifications, 5 year warranties, dimming etc which come from respected companies such as mean well.

You should learn about supply and demand, it clearly is a great business model if they are constantly selling out.
Or look at mars hydro who probably has a warehouse with 100,000+ units collecting dust.
You have an odd view of what constitutes a tantrum. The person would first have to be pissed off at something. I think you meant "pointing out how incompetent the QB guys are at maintaining stock". Kind of hard not to notice, since it's been going on for like a year now. And there's also other Samsung strips, just like there's other cheap drivers. Does that stop people from also selling Samsung boards? Where exactly are all these cheap drivers IN FUCKING NORTH AMERICA NOT GODDAMN CHINA? Kind of pointless to get a driver for $5 and pay $200 for shipping.

nice one! yer dunno why i havent been doing this already, what a muppet haha! gna grab 6 288s...

turning my 4x8 veg into a flower tent...then having a break.
It was about the same price untill the prices for the kits went up. They will have to charge a markup on all the parts and time though so its still a fair price if you dont want to buy parts.

Guys what about stretching with QBs when set 12/12? my plants are 20in high, my tent is 6ft and i'm setting 12/12 in 10 days... i'm a bit worried about it.

The case is internally grounded, your safe.

Hello everyone again looking for some confirmation of safety in a plan I have.

I have two single sized heatsinks in planning on connecting with 2 flat aluminum bars with some nuts and bolts.

If I also fix my driver across those aluminum bars I won't run into any conductivity problems will I?

Thanks in advance for any help.

A lot of us are running 3500k boards in both veg and flower with great results, likely the best, all-in-one solution IMO.

Quick question!

Email HLG directly, this is what they do, they can tailor your lighting to your needs.

Can you hit me through pm if possible and you have the time? I don't want to muddy up this thread, plus there aren't many running the 550 and most guys here seem to grow in tents. We are looking to build a room of these.

Sour Bubble does not seem to stretch at all and most everything in the tent otherwise are LSTed and spread all over. These want to be a club under the same lighting.

I just put 3 Black Gold into flower that were stretching more in veg than the Dynamite Diesel a week into flower and they were under 4000k vero. Genes seem to be the most important factor as long as light is adequate.

I think the 60 watt $29 boards no heat sinks are a Great deal, just buy a driver plug and play all day. You're barely noticed them on your electric bill. I'm grabbing 1/4K and 3/3500K for a 3x3!

Thanks both @619kt619 and @pop22 for your replies!

I'll see what spectrums they have available when the kits come out, I don't know if they will have the 3500k option or just either 3000k or 4000k.

From what I have been reading, and correct me if I'm wrong @pop22 even though having more red with 3000k Is good because the plant does a good job making photosinthesys at that wavelength, the 3500k is slightly better since it has more blue and blue provides a higher amount of photons.

Anyways, I think I wont be dissapointed with either option but I wanted to make an educated choice
