Defoliate at beginning of week 3 of End of Week 3?

Without a control the results are useless.
There is his last grow that looks really nice in April, the bud pics at the bottom of this thread look nice, the ants are freaky.

We shall see the results at harvest and will update the thread.
I'm definitely going to follow and wish you the best of luck. With no fan leaves you are going to have no room for mistakes, no room for a tempermental strain. Since you are growing 7 different strains this thread is going to be very interesting to follow. Never said this before, if I got it right, I'm subbed in. :weed:
Any harvest pics of the last grow?
Any of the strains in the April pics being grown this time?

Thanks for the kind words brother... No harvest pics from last grow but I ended up with a little over 1/2 lb with one 315 light. I think I can do much better next time.

I am not running any of the same strains on this run with the defoliation however things are looking pretty good at day 36 :)

They look amazing!

Just curious. Do you have any fans below your plants? Couldn't see any in the pic's after you did the defoliation.
Thanks brother..

No fans beneath the plants.

Just have 3 small 6 in hurricane fans clipped and zip tied to the top 3 corners and one 16" oscillating Hurricane fan on the 4th corner mounted on a wall rack in the tent.

For airflow, I have a 6 inch inline Hurricane fan with a Black Ops Carbon Filter pushing air outside through a window. Nothing fancy but works pretty well :)

****Couple More Pics of one of my favorites in the tent right now****

TGA Tester Strain called "The Secret" All I know is it is a cross with G13 x ????? So frosty and PUNGENT these pics don't do it justice.

We're at the end of week one of flowering. And are doing as much research as possible on what defoliation can / should be done. Did your buds fill in? Some earlier comments suggested trimming the fan leaves would create small popcorn buds.

Thanks for the fan info. We are going to install 2 fans above the canopy and allow the passive air to flow in from 2 sides of the tent.

Those pic's are inspirational of what we hope to see in the next 2 months!

I've noticed that defolianting between week 2-3 causes stretch. Which is good sometimes, but if your plant is maxed out you definitely don't want to defoliate. I run mainly hybrids and indicas FYi

Wow, very nice! Great work @Wigiberto

It doesn't matter how much light you have if the entire canopy is stifled and overlapping.

I love the defoliate technique, it's not required but it sure can help some of us that know how/when to use it.

For me, I do it right when the stretch is done.

I do it all through veg too in place of topping/fimming as it's a nice method to fine tune dial in your veg ladies.

Don't defoliate the plants. They need the leaves to provide energy for the plants to grow healthy big buds.

Never lolipopped the plants

These are the bottom branches of the Jack Herer plant in the bunch. ZERO fluffy undeveloped buds.

Even the lowest popcorn buds are fully developed with the defoliation technique.

This sounds like it should be the right thing to say, but until you try it or grow micro, you really aren't adding any helpful information. What do you tell the guy with one square foot and a canopy of overlapping leaves?

A room stifled with no air flow because of leaf congestion is an invitation to condensation and mold and doesn't allow for a best yield scenario.

Let them stretch, strip them little cotton balls naked, and in days they will fill back out.

Do it or don't do it, do whatever the f you wanna do, but don't offer science that sounds good but isn't very pragmatic in the specific context.

@Wigiberto demonstrates how the plants will make it just fine after the strip. Excellent run my friend and great documentation!

I have a video series I'm working on using this technique. I think when more people see success using these strategies then more will be apt to try and more will come forward with success.

The key is to do it (leaf strip) AFTER they stretch, at least for me... best of luck all
