I was starting to train my plant LST, still in veg stage so I bent the main stem with twist ties around a stick but it just didn't look right to me so I let it go back to normal, wouldn't the colas on the bottom not be getting any light ? Or is the whole point to let the colas on the top side only get light ? I'm probably just gonna let this one grow naturally but any tips on bending/training LST would be appreciated. ✌

ok new guy first off we were all new once. that said when you lst its best in the veg stage. and the purpose of lst is to generate more bud sites what today may not be on top in a few days will be. the trick to lst is keeping the top of the plant the main cola lower than the rest of the plant. so the plant redistributes its efforts in the lower areas.

I try to make a horizontal grow surface, which brings more of the plant into the high intensity light. End result is more colas, not less. Goal is to make a solid canopy of green, and as 420Barista mentioned, the off-shoots will rise from this and make more colas. A LOT more - like 4-5 times as many than a free growing plant. You won't get that big top cola, but there will be dozens of mid sized ones per plant. You will have to support them as they bulk up, though. It's a lot of work, but I enjoy it.
