Critical Kush Flower Room

Critial Kush #2 is doing well. Not nearly as sugary as #1, but the buds are significantly bigger.
I haven't scoped the trich's yet, but I'm thinking she'll be ready in a week to 10 days.

The Sour Diesel in the DWC has a completely different terpene profile than either of the Barney strains. Very fuel-y and similar to an OG Kush #18 from Reserva Privada that I grew out several years ago. She'll be the youngest and largest yielder of the three plants by far.

After this run I plan to hang up the DWC for a while. While I really enjoyed the accelerated vegetative growth, it's been a lot of work keeping measurements within my desired parameters during mid to late flower. Shifting to a RDWC would involve too many variables for my comfort zone so I want to hold off for now.

You'll notice some tip burn on this SD which resulted from some PH swings while I was away for two days around week 3 of flower. Aside from that setback she has remained relatively healthy.

Did a res change in the DWC today, snapped a picture of the root mass below.

Also did some dry ice hash with some of the trim from ck#1 and17 grams of blue dream. 2.4grams of 120 micron and 12.6grams of 220 micron to use for edibles. I'll decarboxylate it first. IMG_5323.JPG IMG_5322.JPG

Time to get down to some numbers. Today was the first day I could formulate some legitimate expectations for yields going forward. After a 6 day dry, pheno #1 was ready to get jarred up. I spent the last couple hours in trim jail, carefully manicuring the buds to have just enough sugar leave for my liking. I classified the buds into three categories, AAA, AA, & A.

AAA consists of the largest top buds, typically weighing between 2.5 - 3.5 grams each. They are the best looking and most potent buds of the plant.

AA is also top cola buds but in smaller sizes since they were a few inches lower on the branch. Instead of leaving them on the branch they are cut off individually, each weighing between .4 - 1.0 grams.

A is all the smaller yet viable buds. They're not quite as dense but they still manicured up and will smoke really well.

AAA
30 Grams

AA
30 Grams

A
17 Grams

I also collected 16 grams of nice sugary trim I'll use for extracts.

Overall that's 77 grams or 2.75 oz of herb, and remember this is the one I didn't top. She was the smallest plant of the three, so using my guessing skills I'll say pheno #2 will be about 4 oz and the sour diesel around 4.5 - 5 oz. I'm expecting the overall yield (between all three plants) to be close to 11 oz or 308 grams. That would put things right around .75 grams per watt when it's all said and done.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I'll be switching genetics and journaling my next grow when I pop two feminised Ken's GDP seeds and plant them in 10 gallon coco smart pots. The goal is to blow past the 1 gram per watt mark, even though a lot of LED heads would tell me that's not the benchmark to aim for. I'll get back into scrogging with a trellis net + screen, the goal is to fill the entire 4x4 tent with a nice even canopy.

pheno #2 will be coming down in the next 5-7 days. The Sour Diesel still need another 10-14. I'll circle back soon with photos.

The COB tent looks like it'll explode with growth any day now. You're just going to walk in there randomly one day and have a look of "awe" :blsmoke:
That would me very happy lol that purple speckled bud looks like it may be about something my blurple tent is starting to rock I flipped it a week ago today I tied some limbs today it's the same strain (jackherer/blackberry kush) that's in the cob tent IMG_2970.JPGIMG_2971.JPG

pheno #2 has officially been chopped. did a wet trim this time around, simply because of the bud structure and size of this plant. the colas are significantly larger than plant #1 and I want to avoid a humidity spike. right now they're sitting in the high 60's for temp and 58% RH while they dry.

Update Time

Today is 10/18/17 and both Critial Kush strains have been harvested. Pheno #1 has been curing for a little over one week. Pheno #2 has another 1-2 days in the drying room before she goes into jars. Number 1 (the early finisher, smaller yield, more trichs), had a significantly stronger aroma from veg to jar. Number 2 has just kind of been lacking a bit, the odor is very faint when comparing #2 to #1. I'm curious to see if the aroma will come out after 3-5 weeks in the jars, only time will tell.

On to the Sour Diesel by Blimburn Seeds... This plant has been the dark horse throughout this entire time. She was planted as an experiment, I began dabbling with the DWC method to decide if I wanted pursue that style of growing. Overall, I'm really happy I grew this plant because she's going to be the best of the three. The buds are the hardest, densest, heavy, nugs I've ever grown on a plant. I'm talking stones. It's not even funny how dense the buds are.
The aroma picked up a lot at about week 6 in flower. Before that, especially during veg, she really didn't put out a lot of odor. That quickly changed when the buds got further into their development, she smells very similar to Sour Diesel I grew in 2010.
The yield is going to be close to both the critical kush plants combined, or more. Granted, I didn't go for yield on this run, but still did some light training techniques to all three plants.

I do take into consideration that the DWC does provide accelerated growth during veg, and overall a higher yielding plant. But, I had some up's and down's during this grow and those definitely contributed to overall plant health. In early flower I let the water get too lower over a weekend and the plant burned. From there it was treating conditions instead of optimization.

The photos kind of show it, but this plant started showing underdeveloped naners last week from some stress. I've had naners on a plant many years ago from a light leak, where I was plucking them out. These are so small that I'd do more hard than good if I tried that. There are very few and I don't see them doing any harm as they didn't get any bigger than a mm or two. I had a week where my PH was swinging up/down a lot and have since kept on top if it, it seems to have slopped them from trying to pop out. I'm 99.999% it was grower error and .0001% sure it had anything to do with Blimburn.

Sour Diesel will be coming down this weekend. I've had her on 14/8 since the other plants have been harvested and are not in the tent anymore. It'll be around day 72*** when she comes down. Not sure if the increased dark period has or will contribute much, but maybe it has helped shave a few days off total time.

I don't want to put the cart before the horse, but blimburn has a damn good strain here.... IMG_5374.JPG IMG_5373.JPG IMG_5372.JPG IMG_5369.JPG

Beautiful DWC root mass man. Did you use beneficials, or sterile res? What EC did you flower them at? Awesome buds as usual, lol.

Thank you! I went sterile most of the grow. Shortly after the plants burned I decided to stop using food grade hydrogen peroxide @ 5ML/gallon and began using Hydroguard @ 2ML/gallon.

Water temps on average ran between 68-73 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the grow.

My TDS meter only reads PPM so I'll speak in that terminology - not sure which conversion to do to get EC. The hottest I mixed my nutrients was around 750PPM in early/mid flower, with 50 or so of those PPM from tap water.
If I had a chance to do it over again, I'd say 600PPM was the sweet spot I'd try to settle into. Most of the grow she was somewhere between 300-500, a few weeks around 600, and then 750.
