Smart Meters

Nova Scotia Power announced today that they are going to introduce smart meters province wide. They say we will be joing to 70% of Canadians who already have this technology. Will this impact those of us who are growing in our houses ? I remember reading years ago about how this technology is no friend of growers .......... is that still the case ? What should we expect ?

They can track your usage and plot pretty much any stat's that they want to look for.
ie...12/12 flower cycles...

remember they are in the biz of selling electricity....so I doubt they would do much with that info.
unless a warrant was produced....by LEO

Also if you are worried about it alternate your cycles a bit....i.e. go 24 or 20 hr instead of 18 and for 12 you can start at 12.5 and go down to 10 half an hour a week or something.

its a SCAM
Wont save anyone any money.
They do not work half the time.
Its a cash grab made up by some fool to dupe people into the idea of saving...

ITS SHIT!'

As for worrying about the amount of power you use. DONT
They love you the more you use AND the cops cant inquire with out a warrant. (:

you can ask them to check and see if your meter works properly...if it does ,, YOU PAY lol
if it doesn't well They pay of course hahahaha
I think they're 400/hr ;)

What are you basing this off?
How does anyone else make money off of someone else saving energy costs?
We have the smart meters around here. Some people have found their bills went up, some went down compared to the older meters. It made me wonder how accurate the measure of usage is. So, if the power company gets a more accurate reading and your bill goes up it saves them money, plus they don't have to hire meter readers.

I've had those SM's since I moved into a new place 5 years ago, been growing for 4 years indoor. All I get from them is that I know I use about 4-5 times the amount of power my neighbours do, in a nice clean report, including a useless graph. They use it to try and sell you shit to reduce your power consumption (so they can make more money from you). They can't share that information with the cops unless the cops had a warrant to get it. So unless you don't pay your bills you're good.

Is that every where in Canada, I always went 9pm-9am, the majority of the time my kids are asleep. 7am -7pm would also work and I will change to it if it is a bit cheaper.
I do 9pm - 9am
I never knew about a cheaper rate depending on time.
I do 9-9 so it keeps me out of there, & the mini split doesn't have to work as hard .

7-7 seems to be the standard but likely varies, check your supplier's web site, they should have their rates posted. I've always run my flower room 7-7 (7-6:30 actually now). It does make it easier to manage heat and why pay them more than you need to?

Heat is also the other reason 9-9 for me, less heat and kids are sleeping when I change nutes or plant training

In BC we have the same rate regardless of the time of the day.
Instead, they have one lower rate until you use a certain amount of power per billing cycle, any power used beyond this threshold is billed at a higher rate.
