It's just $$$ and I like to have the best.
You can get these off of eBay etc for far less $$$.
When you read the reviews on ika they're a good product and the only one that offers a life time warranty

I'm making a product to help my wife n grandfather. Tossing out a couple K on gear to cook is Cheap really when I think about what I've dropped on my setup this far.

I mean come on . I'm giving away a new PAX3 to people I don't know .
This thing set me back $420

If you are using the hotplate to evaporate solvent is there a reason you are opting for it instead of a rotovap ?

TBH I never looked at one until you posted that,
Getting the oil out of the chamber seems more of a challenge then I'm looking for.
And the size and space that would take up is an issue for me . With the mag plate is small, I can use what ever size beaker I want, easier clean up, Won't take up space.
If someone unexpectedly comes over , I can put it away fast, n start again later where the vap wouldn't be so easy

It's not hard honestly, the round bottoms come in many sizes and most units accommodate them all. It was the end instrument used in damn near every synthesis we did in organic chem (prior to mass spec and hplc) so I learned to love them pretty quickly. You are correct about size and not being able to put away quickly though, they tend to be large, heavy, and awkward instruments to move around, so you kind of set them up where you want them stay.

Magnetic hot plates are fantastic tools, I would love to own a quality one like that.

Get something like this,
Just make sure the internals are SS n removable. Cook off about 80% of the 99
Or till the viscosity is still low, then into your favorite cooker .
This thing pays for itself, how fast depends on how much you cook.
Mine payed for itself the 1st day in returned 99.

Oh yeah man that is smart, I never thought about re using the ISO, does it work for BHO?
I bookmarked it for later. Thanks

No it will not work with BHO
Butane & Isobutane(C4H10) need to be pressured to remain a liquid at room temperature at atmospheric pressure its a gas unless you can chill it . Been a bit sense I've been studying gas processing , but I think for no evaporation, the butane would need to be @ -100. It will sit at a liquid @ -30 but will still be off gassing because there will still be a pressure differential. I think the boiling point is -10
This is why it boils down so fast at room temp. there is equipment out there to do this job, but it's going to set you back a good amount of $$$.
You will need to figure out the amount of usage of butane vs how much BHO you make and figure out how low it will take to pay off... it came up short for me

Personally I'm not a huge fan, so much work to properly remove it all. And then if you go a step farther and make shatter, I find when properly made, shatter jumps n flys around the room unless heated a little.

If you want to know if there's still c4h10 in your BHO or shatter, put on parchment paper and take a heat gun to it, (6-12" away, lift & move the paper to make it run)if it makes little bubbles you still have tane in your product .

This is why I will only smoke shatter I made or if someone insists I'll test it to show them what they are inhailing .

Just keep in mind ISO is a bi polar solvent so itll pull chlorophyll as well. Keep your washes short
This is true, I put my wash in clear glass bottles n leave it in the sun for a few hours
This helps break down the chlorophyll.
Everclear (grain alchohol) is better for not removing as much chlorophyll.
But it's only 95%
