What am I dealing with here?

I haven't seen anything really on the vegetation of my plants, but these little worm-like things are floating and crawling around inside of every dwc bucket. They seem to kinda of dash, and skip around on top of the water without much resistance, but crawl and wiggle around like a worm.

I also happened to noticed a small break out of flying gnat-like insects in the upstairs of my house.. suppose it could be related to what's in my buckets in the basement? I have been spraying my plants with a mixture of neem and other organic pesticides, which is probably why I haven't seen much on my actual plants.

I'm trying to run a perpetual cycle, but everything seems to be setting me back, and now it's these darn bugs. I have clones that appear to have less in the water than the rest, but I really would like to get something else flowering, because I'm already weeks behind schedule. The one plant that's still in flowering also has these bugs in the bucket.

How should I proceed?

a drop of soap, Zone, SMS, neem, olive oil, tween, canola oil, peppermint oil, hemp oil kills pests if you're worried about them

They look like springtails.
Second this.. a way to check is to put some on a dry surface and they should jump. Hence the name spring tails.

Not aware of them being much of a problem but that’s only with soil/coco.. not sure about hydro..

The news is mostly good.

Not root aphid larvae! Throw a party for that..

They are springtail larvae. For the most part they are just annoying. They do chew into roots on plants at times and can cause a loss of hardiness..... You're more likely to have that problem in hydro then soil (the root chewing).. They will cause leaf stippling and yellowing of lower leaves to look like high P problems....

The use of Azadirachtin (Azamax) by applying to the roots, as a soak - mix for root drench. Put that in a bucket that will allow the whole net pot to be just under the liquid's surface. Let it soak for 10 min and go on to the next one.
OR
At your next dump and refill....Add the Azamax to the res at the same ratio as for the root drench. Mix well and have control/timer unit cycle the whole system at least twice. Be sure to spray any net pot/media surface that does not contact the cycling solution. Then dump and refill.
This kills off the many egg's left in the system...

Watch for returns.

Springtails do not fly. They love damp and wet conditions.

Pyrethrin root dunks (like above) work but, are hard on plants.....

You might try a BT product......Microbe-Lift BMC is a great one to try.

I strongly suggest you get rid of them...In hydro..... In soil it's simple to get them gone.....hydro takes work.

Good luck!

Thanks for the help guys! Azamax seems a bit out of my price range, however this little mixture seems to have caught my attention:

Is this something that is added into my res/water? What are "Zone", and "Tween"?

Also, are springtails something that should prevent me from continuing to flower a new plant? I have one in my flowering room already with springtails, and I don't want to flower another one without just to watch it suffer in some form of way.

1) yes, they are conditioners, with soap, bleach, oils etc in them,
2)springtails have never caused me harm I noticed

I suppose that I'll continue the flowering cycle, however, I don't know where to get zone or tween, how important are those in that little mixture? Are there any specific amounts to follow when mixing per gallon or anything? Also, are those all safe to use while flowering? I looked into it a bit and everyone pretty much says springtails are harmless, but I would rather just get rid of them, as I heard they attract fungus gnats, which I already start seeing around the house.

Dont kill them just flush the res onto your lawn or neighbours lawn or any pile of mud and dirt.

Springtails are not the enemy, fuck you if you kill them :finger:
