HOW LONG...do you veg your clones for?

Anyone here do a perpetual harvest! With clones and a few mothers
Perpetual
No mothers
Clone from plants being trimmed for the move to bloom room.
Always use the lower removed branch's for the clone stock. Clones taken from high on the plant. Take longer to root.
The more N saved or present in the cutting. The longer it takes to root.
N content is higher in the branch ends, the higher you go on the plant.

By this cycle and how I up pot. Including how big I veg. I stay perfectly perpetual.
Some strains get dropped, or reduced. This makes way for new strains to be introduced by seed. Starting those 3-4 weeks earlier then clones. They then slide in perfectly with that next round, or replace that next round.

i saw a grow in 1 gallon pots. Clones were vegged for 4 days at 16 hours then flipped to 11-13. Plant average yield was 1 oz.
Was it a sog, or any topping or training?
My goal is to pull a min. Of 1oz per plant and harvest 4 plants a month with a perpetual. I'd like to get closer to 2 Oz per plant but Idk if I'm able. I'll post a link to my journal page so I don't have to keep re typing my set up and plan.

I checked out your link, & your goal is a very achievable number with your current setup. You can be getting 6+ zips every 4 weeks with great ease under a 5x5 spot with a 1000W HPS. No veg, topping, training, lst etc needed. Just be sure to keep a supply of clones to feed the flower room after every 4 wk harvest.

Thanks that is awesome but my plan included a month for rooting and transplanting clones and a month of veg. Are you suggesting I cut out the month of veg?

Also I planned to take 4-8 clones per month, and choose the strongest 4 to continue with, is that a decent system or should I change it a tad?

8 clones a month? are you expecting a high failure rate? Or are u going for a mass plant low veg short flower system? Personally I hate that noise because its really hard to keep gnats and other crap outa there (From my experience) I rather grow big and slow but turn 1oz per plant to 1lb per plant.

clones should root in 10 days. Use smaller pots and cut out all that veg time. The shorter the veg time the less problems. Pack your space with popsicle buds instead of leafs and stems and harvest quicker. If you have space you could have a mother plant under 18 hours of light to use for clones.

also, make sure you're talking clones from lower branches! the lower the branch and the less developed the branch, the less nutrients it has stored and the faster it will root (from my experience)

To be honest I don't know yet this is my first time trying to have mothers and I plan to take extra clones just in case I mess up. I figure I'd I take 8 and only need 4 I can cherry pick the best ones and the other can just get pushed off to the side and if I have room somewhere just throw them in.

So how about using 3g smart pots clip clones every month and give them one month time to root and be planted straight into 3gs and full the tent with that bc I could fit possible 6-8 plants in 3gs every month. 60 "ish" days to flower my strains. Would that work?

I dont wanna tell anyone how to run their grow, but simply to offer suggestions and share my experinces to help better your decisions and help you gauge what you can expect for a given scenario. If you have the time and the room, veg out as long as you want to. Train them, play with them, scrog em etc. I personally cut veg out of the picture because I can try a lot of different strains in a shorter period of time without losing on harvest and without having 7 different strains under one light. That shit can be a total headache. I will get an absolute minimum of 12 zips per table every 4 wks the way I currently run. Your expectations are even less than mine with your 1KW light so you should have NO PROBLEMS with weight by cutting out veg time and just cloning, rooting, then transplant into final pot & going straight into your flower room. Get you a 4 week perpetual by only loading half of the flower room with 4 plants. 4 weeks later introduce the next set of 4 transplanted clones into the flower room. You have now established a harvest every 4 weeks. In the mean time, you will be taking and rooting cuts every 2 weeks under your t5's. Seeing as how it only takes 2 weeks on avg to get roots from cuttings you will be ahead of the game by week 4 of taking cuts and throwing away the ones that dont make the final choice for transplant.

enjoy that transplant shock then. I try to transplant clones before the roots hit the walls of the pot. I always felt abusive when I took exposed roots and let the air and light slap them around. :(

This is what I plan to do I'm going to buy my 3g pots tomorrow and give it a try. If u want to follow my journal I'll be putting updates every week or so.

I'm not worried about transplant shock I've always had really good luck with that and not really an issue for me

So are you vegging for the amount of time it takes for a plant to finish that you just took cuttings from Doc?

If it were me i would flower the clones (12 hours of light) as soon as they are rooted using small 1-2 gallon pots huddled under your 1000 watts. The smaller the pots the more clones you can pack in. The clones have been under 24 hours of light so they will take 10-14 days to began flowering. During this time they will settle into their new home and stretch some to make room for flowers. You will save time with a quicker harvest and money on the electric bill. When you harvest the trimming will be easy ! You could start new mothers when you transplant your clones. I must say HydroRed and Lite have both given you solid advice.
