Now they're coming for food stamps

Homelessness is up. Walmarts get an effective wage subsidy of between $950k and $1.75 million per store because their employees are so underpaid they get that much in food stamps and Medicaid.

This has been building for a long time; 95% of all jobs created during the Obama era were part time and contract positions.

We're circling the drain. It's unsustainable. What's going to break next?

I don't disagree with the basic premise but they can't help but attack Democrats, the same Democrats that all voted against the Tax Reform Bill that would net their big donors literally billions of dollars.

That article was good Ty . It really opened my eyes to some more corruption of the Walmart situation. Wow. I heard that Walmart workers don’t have health insurance either? Is it a situation where they only work a certain number of hours to maintain a certain low income to maintain free state funded healthcare? Again another way to keep the poor locked down and dependent. For the homeless at least for now, we need to develop little sanitary areas for clean them selves so that they don’t destroy the pristine environment and spread disease. And guards in the homeless shelters so women don’t get attacked and raped. But in America no one wants to try something new. Problems don’t change and keep getting worse and worse.

On a side note Walmart has been doing this since the late 90s at least. Nothing new. It's gone on for a looooooong time.
One of my old pals has worked in a Walmart in electronics since 98. I distinctly remember going to BS with him at work when he was on break back then. Looking around the break room and seeing the how to posters to sign up for food stamps and medicaid. I asked him about it and he just flat out stated they schedule you just enough to keep you in the 'poor' range. I thought it was nuts even back then because my teenage steak slinging job had insurance options/plans.

As far as the food stamps being reduced. I have heard reporting about Tea Party types saying on the record the reason for the big tax cuts is so they can cut entitlements. Not just food stamps, but the big 3. Hang on, this is going to be a bumpy ride the next 7 years.

Too funny that you pulled up a stat listed by Brietbart, rt and right wing propaganda sites regarding Obama. tty, Democrats aren't the same as Republicans. The truth isn't found on the pages of rt.

Wages up, part time employment flat, more than a million full time working jobs during Obama's tenure. I have no way to confirm or deny the contract statistic you claim but there are good reasons to think that's a phoney number too. It was Bush's recession. It's now a Republican tax plan that will literally kill thousands of people. Walmart has been a shitty employer who fails to provide health care to its employees and has been doing so for decades. That will not change given the Republican control of the government.

Part-time jobs ticked up in November, but overall, employment growth in recovery has been almost all full-time.

To call that 95% number disingenuous would be kind. It comes from a working paper for fucks sake.

The percentage of workers engaged in alternative work arrangements – defined as temporary help agency workers, on-call workers, contract workers, and independent contractors or freelancers – rose from 10.7 percent in February 2005 to 15.8 percent in late 2015.

Their initial findings seem to say, and I say seem because this is far from settled science, that the majority of the jobs created under Obama occurred under these alternative work arrangements, not that, 95% of the jobs created under Obama were part time or contract positions.

What we need to do is start taxing mega corporations and the ultra wealthy. It's gotten completely ridiculous, unsustainable and will finish tearing this country apart.

We need to outlaw money in politics.

We need to change compensation package so workers get a living wage.

95% of all jobs created during the Obama administration were part time and contract positions- no benefits. People can't live like that and that's why our system is broken and must be overhauled.

Net job creation is a thing, sorry.

I'm not blaming Obama, so calm down.

Jesusfuck you're stupid.

Nevermind a callous and self absorbed prick who doesn't care about your fellow citizens.
Typical histionic reply. That link, by the way was shit stupid. Travis posted the source paper that gave much more insight and details.

Part time work was flat throughout Obama's administration.

Alternative hiring as you say went up. The 94% number actually is from a study that looks at jobs data beginning in 2005 to 2015. Just saying this for the sake of accuracy. It is true that Alt hires took a big jump when the economy started to expand and companies hired flexible workforce instead of permanent ones.

Some people like the flexibility of the "alternative workplace". From what I've seen, I think it sucks for most. Companies do this so they can reduce workforce more easily and it's also true that workers who are contract hires make less overall than full time employees. No argument with you there. Still, it's better than seeing those jobs go outside the country, which is a trend we can't ignore either.

Has nothing to do with Obama. It's up to Congress to write the laws. It won't change unless we get Republicans out of control of government.

From my personal experience I agree with the information given about how part time and contracted positions are in majority. Al least for my chosen profession as a health care worker. The hospitals and medical clinics and mobile company’s do not want to pay the fulltime benefits. Temp and contract positions are easy to get because they suck and Don’t offer any benifits. Some company’s thrive off of turnover. They hire and fire in turn door style so workers aren’t ther long enough to get Benny’s. Or the pay wage is shit low as soon as a worker gets a Little experience and can get in the door at the company down the street who pays 3 bucks more an hour , they quit . I work for a cheap ass organization like that and it’s so frustrating!!!

Never fear, most of the snap cuts will come from urban areas with high crime statistics. A surprising percentage of trumps base is on snap. But targeted reductions will spare them.

The ratiionale they will use will be pure evil, but that is what they will do.

The other thing they will do is redirect the money in those areas to religious charities. Because mega church pastors are a much better steward of money than the parents of hungry children. After all, campaigns need money to run, and religious orgs can now donate to political campaigns.

Calm down? Is your gimp mask cutting off your oxygen or something? For me at least, you're just some dip shit I correct on the internet from time to time. You don't have the capacity to upset me.

You posted another lie from blog and I called you out on it. I know people of your ilk can struggle with academic writing, I'm just glad I was here to explain it to you.

I'm not blaming Obama for the rise of part time and contract work.

I'm blaming the rise of corporatocracy.

Worker's rights were tossed into the garbage heap long ago in pursuit of profits.

And Americans let them get away with it.

Now the attacks on medical care, suicidal security and food stamps are basically just to see how far they can go in the face of an impotent/divided/apathetic electorate.
