DIY with Quantum Boards

The 3000k is what you want .... It will grow absolutely fine. You can form a canopy grow for the best use of the light spread , but my indica so stay bushy as usual. Look for an 18" average height and you are flyin. Sativas are gonna do what they gonna do ....

You can see how even they will grow without much training .... All I did was simple LST to WIDEN plant and the Quantums took it from there ....
image.jpeg

Even the Dominate bud stay fairly even ... I did very little to train ....
They are brighter than pics show ... And will penetrate canopy very well .
Yes you can do 4 120s ... Or 288s ... Or anyway you want. All are good.

I grow more Sativa than indies , I just bitch slap them early and FORM them into shape.

Since using and testing a few configurations , I have yet to find uneven growth within the footprint- I don't get hotspots like with other lights ( short of spinning plants or movers ) these panels grow it all .......... Scrog/SOG/hydro/vertical ... Etc.

3500 will flower well too , even the 4000k flowers nicely ( often called natural ) .

HLG does lurk this thread , they are often busy doing gods work ... Lol

3000k will grow from seed to harvest .... It is the most popular board spectrum .
However any of the spectrum will grow well , I use 3500 and 3000k. I am going to run a 4000k shortly for new seedlings / cuttings .

288 is the number of Samsung diodes on " board " - they are available as 304 /132/120 and in veg strips. You can get away in a 3x3 with a 260w kit or XL.
You can also make a 4 panel rig ( I did this for a 3x3 ) which is a bit overkill but I control output with a potentiometer.

The 2 panel rigs will get you your plants happy as shit. I run 3500k citizens in same rig and they just as my 304 panels ( I was told it equates to a 3500 Cree ).

I did mockups before I began building for the 3x3 but you can get something straight of the shelf from HLG.

Panels don't " necessarily " have to be at max to perform , this may sound different to those that run HPS at " super lumen " or 100% ballast power. These are very efficient at their " mid power levels " ... Check the website charts where boards run at about 50-60 watts each.

Look at the 120 boards ... Those are killer little boards that are bringing in fire ass buds .
Look at the grows within the thread ... Yes there is a lot of pages , but it's worth it.

Bottom line - reach out directly to @robincnn and @Stephenj37826
They will field questions and point you to the right boards for you.
132 boards out now !!!

The difference between the 3000k and the 3500k is minimal and either work about the same

UOTE="overdriver, post: 14013336, member: 958092"]nice, thank you very much. Should I PM those 2 guys or will they just respond in this thread?
Wouldn't it be better if I used 4x QB 120 instead of 2x QB304 in a 3x3 tent?

Do the QB120 require any kind of cooling/heatsink if I run them at 70W per board?

Isn't the 3000k a little too much red for a seed to flower run? wont they struch a little too much too early?
Is the 3000k better for flowering than the 3500k?[/QUOTE]

@Stephenj37826 - Are there plans for more things to be added to the HlgCanada site? I'm noticing Amazon selling alot of your stock but says they won't ship to Canada.
HLG Canada is only currently selling completed fixtures, but if you order a kit from HLG they will ship to Canada. Got my kit in about a week and customs/taxes was $44 CAD on a 260w kit.

Finally have some plants under the 4 QB 304 light. Moved some Ducksfoot clones and seedlings into that tent. And I'm testing some DLI-100 DLI meters. My thinking is these may be more pertinent to how we grow than just measuring the instantaneous light output.

Hey guys and gals, final update here.
Last week was quite a hectic week here, spotted mold that was staring on one of the plants, so o decided to chop them all a week early.
Most of the plants had some early signs of mold on the middle parts of the main colas. Had to take apart each colas for individual buds and check for mold. Overall around 120-150g of moldy buds were trashed.
After trashing the moldy buds the total yield was 400g of dry buds and another 130g of popcorn that we be used this week to make some Buble hash and bho. This is my first sog grow, and I'm taking quite a few lessons for the next cycle, mainly more heavy uniformed lollipop and sticking with just 4 side branches per plants, and rasing the tent on a platform for drainage rather then using the space in tent.
No doubt that the qb120s rocked it, extremely pleased with the fixture end results. Most of.the flowering cycle the boards were running on 80% and cobs around 25-30%, for a rough total of 400-450 watt of the wall.

It was fun ride, will update on the next cycle

Keep it safe

AND the containers! Perfect starter pots. plant/rootball slip out easily. holds a perfect amount of soil IMO. I transplant when the leaves are as wide as the pot, 7-10 days. That way, the roots are to the bottom but circling has not, or just barely begun. My transplants show growth within hours of transplanting. No shock at all.

Somebody loves cottage cheese ! ... Lol

Hey guys/gals
I am looking to TRY to replicate Napalm s
setup(Very informative and much appreciated ) and this is my list please help im new to the game and dont want to mess it up.
My list so far is
8 x quantum 288 3000k
4x HLG-240H-C2100B MEAN WELL
(qb288 wired in series and will get about 120w per board so 240w per pair or driver so more options for spacing and heights plus if I did happen to lose a driver to failure I only lose 2 panels.
I am mounting them in pairs of 2 boards
8x slate heatsinks single
Hanging kits x 4
Dimmer switch x 4
Wires to connect
(What coverage should i expect?
HAVE I COVERED EVERYTHING?
I have had a lot of great info on here and other sites just need some confirmation on my setup PLEASE HELP
Also how many qb 120 or 132 do i need for my veg room to keep my 8 pannel flower room going? Im guessing ill have 2 mothers and 20 clones?
Thx again guys
If there is something I am not doing right please help dont want to order the wrong things.

More DIY ....

After I chopped a couple of girls down ... I decided to change things around a bit .
I added 4000k to the other rig , and am now able to ratchet independently to any angle -

I will be able to drop that panel down over a seedling tray or as a supplemental panel.
I am interested into how much it will grow alone ( without main rig on ) I also allowed for timer intro and cutoff together with main rig or separately.

I still have to add the power cable to board ( driver remote mounted). So almost complete , had to stop where I was because of dark time ( flowering girls ).

Here's the two girls I did a choppy chop on ...

Very sticky and stinky girls ... Got some trim from both and combined in a container for some vape oil making. They both showed purps during mid / late weeks. The Duck has a lot of purple in her , and it shows in overall flower color. ( I wish I took cuttings from her ) .

The Godfather is the more pungent of the two .. Deep fragrance / woody.
The Duck is a potent sweet fruit smell.

I am gonna sample the scissor hash ( from both plants on same FISKERS ) tomorrow, smoke report later .... Lol

What is the flowering coverage for a qb132 board? I see the qb120 is 2ft by 1ft.

Edit: Got the answer. 2sqft @ 75watts

Can this be done with a HLG-600H-54A driver?

I bought 2 QB288 at Amazon last week and I bought another 2 this week. I don’t know if they are from the same batch because they shipped from different amazon warehouses. I’m worried about connecting in parallel. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
