Help with grow setup

Looking to do a grow with COBs or quantum boards. I don't mind doing DIY, but I also don't mind paying a reasonable amount extra for something preassemled. I'm in Ontario, Canada so Canadian suppliers would be preferred. Budget is around $1000 CAD. Can I get some suggestions?

Thanks! I've looked at lights from both of those companies. The exchange + shipping + duties makes those choices pretty expensive for Canadians. Do either of them have a Canadian supplier?

I'm not really sure what I need even. If I get a 260W QB kit how much area would that cover? I imagine I could start off with that and then add some more in a couple months maybe. For the Timber lights... what should I be looking at there?

If possible please add some light suggestions when adding links as I'm a bit lost here

I'm not sure yet how big the space will be. I am probably going to get or make a tent around 4x4x7 or so, but I could go bigger or smaller. I'll be doing a perpetual grow and plants will be kept small so I can pack a bunch in.

HLG Canada only shows one model, and it's more than I need right now. I've contacted them about other models.

How would the 550W, or 2 of the 330W from bcblondes work in a 3x3 or 4x4 tent, possibly with some extras added?

size depends on a lot, are you planning to sog, or scrog? are you going to grow bushes? or trees? theres a lot of dependencies, your lighting needs are dictated by the size of your grow room, which is dictated by the style of grow you intend to do.
you gotta figure that out before you can start to decide how much lighting you'll need. and are you going to grow one crop at a time, or do you plan to set up a veg room too? cause you gotta light that as well.
i know this is all elementary shit, but its hard to give meaningful answers without it.
this is an excellent thread to find info in

It's looking like that, or I get a 260W QB setup and a 200W COB kit and use them together in 4x4 tent. WIll be SOG style grow, 12/12 perpetual. I've got a 20 plant license to use. I've done a similar setup with CFL and did ok, but want some new lighting to get things up and running again

Here's what I'm thinking atm... let me know if I'm on the right track

260W QB kit from HLG + 200W Citizen COB kit from Timber
-or-
2 x 330W Citizen COB from BCBLONDES

Both options will cost about the same amount of money so I guess it's about which is better really.
I'll go with a 4x4 tent. Plants will be packed in, and kept small. Grow will be perpetual 12/12 from seed and clone.

HLG 600H is just under $1000 CAD, but shipping and duties/customs will likely make that out of my budget. If I order the 550 from hlgcanada it's over $1500 so that's not happening ha.

yea ur on the right track,
1st option = passive
2nd option= Fans

Easiest and quickest is the 2 x 330W Citizen COB from bcblondes. From what I can tell they look to be using good quality parts. Not accounting for the higher wattage, would that option perform better in a tent 4x4 or slightly bigger than 260W QB + 200W Citizen COB kit? Passive or fans is not a big issue for me either is fine.

I'm thinking the 2x330W Citizen COB is better for me than the 550W Cree COB from bcblondes if I decide to go with them. Any opinions on that?

Is there any real reason to go with the 260QB + 200W COB over the 2x330W COB? I'm mostly just interested in trying out the quantum board, but I could get more W for the $ going with 2 330W COB.

Anyone else? If you had $1000 CAD to spend what light setup would you go with? Either from options already mentioned, or something else completely.

More W for the $ in this case just seems to mean less efficiency since both lights are equal to 500w of HPS but one uses 330w and the other 260w (285w at the wall)

Slightly better light spread with the HLG.

What's the price Canadian for the HLG260w? Is it just money that's making you want a 260w + a 200w cob kit?

The BCBlondes look like a solid unit though.

HLG 260W QB is $480 CAD assembled + shipping and duties
200W Citizen COB kit is $350 CAD + shipping and duties
bcblondes 330W I can get 2 for around $800 CAD shipped for less from Canada with no customs/duties
the 550W from bcblondes is also around $800 CAD

I'm wanting to go the QB route because of the things being said about them. They state that a 3x3 flowering space is ideal for the HLG 260W on their site. If that is the case then one of those paired with the 200W COB kit seems to me a good option for a 4x4 tent. I don't think I can afford 2 of the HLG 260W right now. If I just put that into a 4x4 tent with the intention of keeping plants short and on a 12/12 cycle what could I expect? Would I really NEED the 200W COB kit? I have money to spend, but I also like to spend it on other things so any savings would be good. If that would work out ok then I could add another one later on and change my layout a bit as I have some other plans in mind.
