Do people have to come into my home in order to install smart meters?

I see. I've heard stories go back and forth about how they can tell what each piece of equipment is that is running and that they can tell if you're growing with these meters but the other half of the group says no worries as long as you're paying your bill.. is running a 2 room grow with a total of roughly 1500w in lighting something that I should be worried about with these meters?
It is a small house. Even though my electric bill is still low (~$200), it's still double what it always was in the past winters..

had one few yrs now,only thing that changed was lower bill,they cant tell what your running they can easly c a 12-12

every electrical device brand has a unique signature, something about algorithms.
They just dont care, until leo requests your usage record and they gladly hand it over
if paperwork is in order. My installer put two meters on our property wearing a
tshirt with a short sleeve dte shirt over it and dark jeans.

I dodged the installation as the tech said he needed to drill thru many layers of Asbestos?
one look he said fuck that
a month later the meter boss showed up wonder why the job not done
then He says whole thing has to be re wired
a big job
I moaned about Asbestos? being in my house as is the meter
we are at a 24 month stand off just now
I know these are coming I know the spy ware shit has to be tricked
just another hassle

All I know is that if there's a chance that they need to come into my home, more so if they need to see the breaker box's, there would be no hiding what I have because the two boxes in my home is where my grow area is at.. not a real big grow or anything, but still big enough that you can't hide it. 945w flowering area and ~500w veg.
So I'm down to my last couple weeks of flower right now and I am planning some light renovations and major clean up as I've been fighting with broad mites. So the question is, start back up in May, the start of my summertime "schedule", or wait until after the meters have been installed..?

If your breakers are inside the installler will want to come in to be sure that everything is properly shut off. If he doesn’t, it could cost him his job, or his life. Removing the meter with power running and your main breaker on could “melt” the meter mounts (I know of this happening), resulting in total loss of power until the utility co. comes out to repair.
The installler may be “cool” if you have everything shut off (all breakers and +main), but I wouldn’t bank on that.

my installer said he could install when I'm not even home, but said I could shut off the breakers if I wanted. I switched the house breaker but didnt fuss with the grow building. The meter soared immediately after ballasts were fired and he gave a fuck and left.

wait until the new meters are up and running
if you can give him a small window
like 2-3 hours over 2-3 months
install the device
tell him you got the painters coming in etc etc
and need it done quick before you go on holidays etc etc
having a grow space available as a storage area is an emergency plus?

My 2¢ ....
Clear your grows / power down for a bit after harvesting .... Tell them you would like an appointment to install as your work schedule is wonky and you can be home.
THEN ..... they do the install , no heavy odors from flowering girls , and then send them on the way.

Yeah that's what I'm going to do. Too risky to try running with something like that taking place. I have a regular full time job anyway so it's not like I need them plants to make a living.
That'll give me time to make some light renovations and re-brainstorm plans.
