New to LEDs

Smh... this light will grow plants. Read the reviews. There are levels to this shit. You’re right. Ideally every grower should start out with the best most expensive, top of the line equipment. That’s not realistic though. For that space, it’s not bad to start out with a cheap light. He’s not planning on becoming a commercial grower.
You didn't even try to comprehend what I said. Nobody said buy the most expensive. If you can buy junk for $100 or literally mow 2 fucking lawns on a Sunday afternoon and buy quality for $185 but you can't be bothered to wait, that demonstrates impatience and lack of foresight. Period. And these are bad traits in a grower. Even a small time personal MED grower, which is exactly what I am.

I’ll buy the light you recommended and I’ll do a side by side grow. Just to prove a point... how long do I have to wait for them to restock? Since I’m so impatient smh

My contention is, in small spaces, efficiency is almost a non factor, granted temperature can be maintained at an acceptable level.
The end goal, is to reach a minimum density of photons produced, in your given area, regardless of the source.
Factoring Wattage consumed per SQ foot will get you in the ballpark.

3ft square, you're in need of a GENERAL ESTIMATE, of how much wattage you will need to CONSUME, to generate a sufficient amount of light, to get acceptable results...

IMO, getting into the 40w(ish) per square foot, will achieve this....so 120 Watts consumed, even at below average efficiency, should get it done....

For entry level LED growers, the sheer volume of options available is enough to overwhelm and confuse the majority....

Take a look at the thread titled, "Screw in Grow"..... for inspiration....

Ok, I am no all knowing pro. However I do have experience with a few kinds of lights. I bought and use Mars reflectors, I have used cfl, I have used incondescent, and I have a couple cobs I made.
I got lucky compared to some I have read about and the reflectors have been running nonstop for a full year and no pronlems. Well budded a batch once and starting to now but been in use. They grow well and I haven't had a problem budding but I also supplemented with cfls and now led screw ins also. I just like lots of light : p
But I also know the cobs I built produce more light by far compared to the mars, and I don't even have great ones. So the people telling you to used cobs Wether it is pre built or no solder or what have you are going to be more light for your power used and they are trying to save you money by telling you to not buy the cheap one because you will want to replace it and not be able to because you bought that one if you are worried about money now.
I wished two weeks after I bought mine I had of built one or bought from parhorta, or others something like timber , cobkits, the list goes on. My next will probably come from parhorta.

And temps are one of the main reasons cheap led panels suck. They run hotter and are less efficient by far than COB and QB.

I only had to wait about a week for them to restock when I bought mine. I think you'll enjoy the light one way or another so I endorse your experiment.
I was going to buy supplemental lighting, but I’ll just get that as a third light. They’ll all be in the same room, so they’ll supplement each other but I’ll place a plant directly under each light. Try to see a difference

Forget buying cheap crap it is a waste.. Do yourself a favor and get the HLG 135 watt kit... I've got one and it does an excellent job of veg and flower... The cheap leds are cheap for a reason... They run hot and will die sooner rather than later.. Only $185 for a light that will last... no brainer!

That's a good idea. Keep in mind you can pick the color temperature you want when you buy it. 2700k 3000k 4000k up to I believe 5 or 6000k.

LOL - the $185 kit from HLG is hardly the "most expensive top of the line equipment" - but it IS much better than those King branded lights - or any other blurple panel out there.

135W of good, efficient, white LED light is perfect for the 3 square feet of space he has.

So if I were to order said light, is there enough info on here to help me get it installed correctly? I've never messed with electrical stuff like that before and not trying to waste 185$ when I could buy a perfuctsunled.com panel and it be well worth it

I just need more facts on how those QBs are better than a legit panel light(not viparspectra or marshydro) an actual panel light like spectrum king

Look up led Gardner on YouTube he has video showing how to put it together also a lot of info on quantum board thread

Someone posted a link to a video from LEDGardener of a step by step assembly of that very kit. - I'll try to find it.
