DIY with Quantum Boards

TLDR version. How much should I dim my HLG 135w 288 for seedlings and how far above a seedling would you run it?
Sup folks.
About to start my first run under my new QB. It's the 135w 288 kit from HLG. I'm going to be running one plant under it in a small space (about 2x2x5) from start to finish.
Wondering what wattage people have had success dimming it to for seedling stage as well as what height to run it at. I've got a good idea on height above the canopy once the plant is mature, but I'd like to avoid having to deal with my t5s for this and I know qb will dim down fairly low.
So like I said, any tips on this, or any other aspects of growing with these boards is greatly appreciated.

Finally had time to finish it .... I really like the bluish tint of the 4000k ( natural color ) QB .

Have to go get another timer as mine that I was gonna use took a shit.
I like those timers that have the tabs that you pull out and place in time slot than those timers that you flick up or down.

MEANWHILE in the 3x3 ... 18/6 veg duty.

I got some plants at different stages ( between 2 weeks apart or so ) , so I can keep rotation.
Peyote Cookies
Blue Dream
Candy Dream
La Fruita di Venus
Mystery Seed - don't know what the hell it is. ( bag ? )
White Dwarf ( finally growing out )
MEPHISTO TOOF Decay ( seed )

I plan to do some LST on the slightly bigger plants and continue to veg a bit more.
The White Dwarf will stay in tent as they really don't get that big. The Blue Dream / Candy
and Peyote will go into the above area once those last two plants are cut down. La Fruita is an auto and will stay in tent under 18/6 with dwarf.

Also grab some COLLODIAL Silver for some seed making. The peyote will get a branch done and the blue once they get ready to flip. Even if it's a pollen run , it's all good .

has anyone experience with china vendor on alibaba selling the quantum boards?

(cant add a link, because I'm missing 1 like and 1 post...)

This guy (link removed) is selling a 312 quantum board for 25$.
I find it hard to believe that HLG is charging 60$ that go into his own pocket. So something seems fishy there with china....

Love to hear from anyone who maybe ordered an alibaba quantum board and has some evidence that they are fake or something.

I really like manual timers. I don't mind the flip tabs but really prefer them to also be covered which protects against bumps etc. Our power is more reliable out here than a few years ago but we still have our moments and manual electronics are preferred. In the past I have had power surges destroy expensive HID bulbs.

They are knockoffs for a reason ... There are some that have received boards that function- but it is a big gamble to find somebody over there that will HONOR the choice of components. You frequently end up with old stock diodes / questionable QC / different diodes than stated / and other issues. You can find some comparable boards however THEY are more interested in having someone order Large Quanities so they can make a few dollars up front .... I looked into getting TESTER SAMPLES and was turned off by the heavy arm twisting involved.

With HLG , you get the quality of components as stated and customer service with the purchase .... With China direct .... You get what you get .... And they got your money.

If you are looking for alternative DIY - look to Samsung LM strip boards - all available stateside. Form factor is similar ( PCB ) with molex connection.

HLG ...... For me the cost covers the peace of mind ....
There is nothing wrong with going cheap , but remember cheap sometimes becomes expensive......

I'm a bit embarrassed to admit it but yes I have bought cheap china 304diode pcbs. They may or may not be lm561c diodes. They are defo 100% low quality. Minimal copper between diodes. I have paid hlg for 5 qb 288 ( 135w kitt + 4 boards and 2 xl heatsinks) and 4 qb 120 ( bought the dc jack connector board accidentally so got the 65watt drivers) So I don't feel too bad about going the China route. But these boards with the cheap layer of copper I only feel safe running at low amp ( more efficient I guess)

Anyone have input on that? Is the minimal copper between diodes just bad all together or will they be fine at low Amps?

Honestly do regret buying these cheap boards.

Respect to the guys who put in the effort to share this tech. Knowledge needs to be shared.

I'm just a sucker for a deal.
I bought 6 mars 300s thinking it was a deal.

Converted the mars 300 to take 4 cxb2530 and used the 4 heatsink together to mount 6 of the 12 boards.

Did a wee spell check then got distracted
