Saskatoon police chief wants another year before weed is legalized

Saskatoon police Chief Troy Cooper said he’d like another year before marijuana is legalized in Canada.

“We’ll be prepared and ready for summer, but we’re hoping for an extension on that. It would be beneficial for us for additional training,” Cooper told media Thursday.

“If we could see another year, that would be great.”

Cooper said an extra year would be useful for training officers to detect high drivers.

On Wednesday, the provincial government rolled out its rules for marijuana use in Saskatchewan.

The province’s framework includes a “zero tolerance” policy on drug-impaired driving, which Cooper said will be Saskatoon police officers’ main focus. He said, however, he doesn’t yet know how the policy will be enforced by police.

“When the new federal legislation that comes in, there’s additional requirement for training around testing and testing equipment. We don’t have that equipment yet, so we can’t actually design the training and roll that out yet in advance, because it’s not available to us,” Cooper explained.

Once legalized in Sask., recreational marijuana will only be sold through private businesses with a permit. Users must be 19.

"to detect high drivers" :wall:
..if the person looks and is driving fine, and you can't otherwise tell if they're high or not, without some device :?
..where's the problem? let them go.

is he basically saying "we need more time to have a device in place that will detect if someone -that seems to be otherwise of no threat to anyone- can be locked up or fined" ?

All the dirty little piggies surrounded the house and puffed and puffed until they made it so the dirty little piggies could imprison anyone they chose..at any time...for no reason...and the reason the house did that?

AND THEN ANOTHER YEAR FOLLOWED BY A MORITORIUM OF 2 YEARS BEFORE, BEGGING THE GOV
TO JUST GIVE THEM 1 MORE YEAR...OH PLEASE....
WE GOTTA HAVE MORE TIME...
the master plan was to dish up cheap poison Lp weed to the masses and all the stalling of
passing the bill in the meantime 10 cent a gram Lp dirt weed will flood the streets...
....so they can kill off the majority of the countries cannabis users..
for eugenics reasons of course

Fucking politicians need to get their priorities straight.

What about all the narcotics prescribed by doctors that don't result in impaired driving charges?

If I'm with uncle Jim who's on oxy 40, he's ok to drive? How about morphine, fent, antidepressants, Xanax or the dozens (hundreds/thousands?) of other drugs that are far more dangerous to get behind the wheel on? Good luck ever getting an impaired conviction against anyone with a lawyer.

If pigs are so smart, why do 66% of them build their houses out of completely unsuitable materials?

Short of being thrown into a fire or bath of acid, every living thing gets eaten.
