Hey everyone, just went out on my back 7 acres and found these growing in some cow pies during this rain storm. Just curious. I'm assuming but want to be safe. Mycology can be a dangerous hobby lol

They look like Psilocybe mexicana or semilanceata. Do they bruise blue, and have purple spores?

Yes since then I've been out and found probably a dozen variety's most of them growing directly out of patties and hay mulch/horse dung. The print is from the cubensis looking one except they have no veil and violet/brown gills, and i believe the purple ones are canaspis or however you spell it/say it, but I understand they aren't active, aren't toxic (black/blue/purple spore print) but house antibiotic proteins? I live in northwest Oregon. Liberty caps are abundant here. Picking time comes in the fall when the rain comes. You got to be on it before the first freeze. You usually don’t see them growing strait out of cow shit. Shits got to compost in the soil first. My best fields are old pastures that haven’t had any livestock in many years.

When you find a batch of liberty caps you can tell if there the good ones by taking the bell on your thumb ad squeezing till it splits the bell. As it separates there will be a clear mucus that will tear slightly behind the split. If there’s no mucus it’s a water shroom and the shits. I watched a guy sit in a field and pick and eat a shit load of them. Saw him an hour later he had shit himself and throwing up all over the place. I laughed my ass off. Don’t eat liberty caps raw there are perisites in them that can give you tape worms and other nastyness.

Just getting into mycology, think I might take the safe route and introduce myself to a grow kit as i learn. Is it as easy growing them outdoors as spore n spray?
