DIY DWC Nutes

Been using this formula for 9 years with RO water. I’ve changed out about 100,000 gallons (maybe a lot more) with this and it’s the most reliable (and most inexpensive) hassle free way to get away with not checking pH for up to 2 weeks in a 15 gallon res containing up to 2 plants growing to the max under a 600 watt light. Costs 10x less than anything store bought and it really works.

You will mix 3 parts plus 1 pH up mix (no need for pH down)

Part A
498 grams Monopotassium Phosphate
Top up to 1 gallon with warm RO water

Part B
667 grams Epsom Salt
Top up to 1 gallon with warm RO water

Part C

Part Micro

497 grams CaNO3

15.44 grams 11% Fe DTPA

7.27 grams 13% EDTA Mn

1.89 grams 15% Zn EDTA

1.26 grams 15% Cu EDTA

.89grams Solubor

.03 grams Ammonium Molybdate

Top up to 1 gallon with warm RO water

pH up
379.2 grams of Potassium Hydroxide flakes
Top up to 1 gallon with cold RO water but add the KOH to the water and never vice versa.

I put 700 ml C, 700ml B and 1400 ml A in 54 gallons of RO along with 200 ml of pH up. Really works for me .

Thanks for sharing your recipe. You run this from cradle to grave or titrate it in some fashion? What pH and PPM does it round out too?

It starts around 6.3 and settles around 5.4-5.5 after residing in a 20 gallon Rubbermaid Brute bin (filled with 15 gallons and 2-8” round airstones each bubbling an average of 10lpm of hyper clean air, as measured by an air flow meter) with 2 plants after 7-10 days depending on how far along in flowering.
The EC starts around 1.6. No need to titrate anything or check pH. This is a set and forget method that starts at the upper range of acceptable pH and ends at the lower end of the pH gamut by the time you need to change the water.

Yes. That’s exactly what you need to counteract the ridiculously high potassium hydroxide . It’s based on experience and consistent high yields.

What Atomizer said. 1+pound of MKP in anything scares the shit out of me. You are clearly doing this based on experienced aqueous chemistry or handed it by someone who is. Can you break out some formulas so I understand how you derived your required molar concentrations? Precision down to the hundredth of a gram for micros doesn't come from "trial and error".

Also, how in the hell would you ever even consider a boron deficiency? I've grown for 25+ years and have never added borax to solution, even at less then a gram per 500 gallons.

So you use this for veg and flowering even with that high dose of MKP?

quick calc suggests there is only around 65ppm of N to go with the 205ppm of P and 327ppm of K, Mg 59 and Ca 85.
I use MKP for P, but its not remotely close to 200ppm, additional K is provided by potassium nitrate and/or potassium sulphate depending whether i need the N or not. Same for mag nitrate and mag sulphate. I prefer boric acid as solubor and borax both add sodium (Na).

This is based on always getting at least .85 gpw when putting 18 plants started from seed with 4 weeks veg into a 3600 watt hps flowering room with no LST. 1 gpw minimum when doing LST with 30-36 Reserva Privada Sour Diesel with LST.It burns the leaves around the 6th week of flower, yes, but not the buds. They swell . Damn they swell.

I agree that P above 60ppm is ridiculously high, but if it works, it works. Imo, it's still better than paying for premixed nutes.

(yes, even 60ppm is probably too high, but it gives you a buffer. If you start at 30ppm, 1 week in if it goes to 25ppm, you have a small deficiency)

When you change out 450 gallons a week you have no choice but to DIY. Like the old saying goes...real niggas do real things. I don’t experiment...I produce.
I’m not an experimentalist. Playtime was over years ago and this aggressive formula works quite well and it’s very pH stable through a desirable range.
I don’t do it only to save money but that’s a bonus.

Only if you want a dry version of advanced nutes though.

I considered mega crop but the fact i have used advanced for many years plus i didnt want brown nutes again :)

My 50 pound bag of yara calcium nitrate I got for 30 bucks disagrees with you. The control you get alone makes it worth it. There's no way I would ever go back.

Edit: And you're reasoning.... "because I got a free sample.". Maybe I misunderstood what you're trying to say here. You don't see the point of DIY because companies give you stuff for free?

Oh shit. I hate brown roots too. I had thm with NPK RAW nutes. But, will only be using MC in one rez

WTF? you quoting me isn't even my actual response (I just ordered a free sample of Mega Crop dry nutrients. Seems like there is little reason to DIY ). You need to stop responding when you're high. PLUS, calcium nitrate is only one ingredient AND I said 'seems like'... there are always exceptions

you gotta ask yourself where the excess P in the 450 gal you change out every week ends up. maybe its more accurate to say, i dont experiment, i pollute ;)
There cannot be an industry without pollution. The more I pollute, the more I produce. It’s not going into a municipal waste water system so it’s not so bad.
