  • Hey Growmau5, I reviewed your youtube video DIY LED Basics: Optics & Dimming. When I use my multimeter as you did on the dimmer leads everything works as you explained. However when I place the multimeter on the voltage out leads the voltage stays at 144. Shouldn't the voltage get lower with dimmer? I'm using the items below;

    HLG-240H-C1750B
SST Junction box from Northern Grow Lights wB100k

    Thanks

dimming affects the driver current (ma) Voltage will always remain the 144
Hello Growmau5, i am new to diy grow lights. i recently purchased MAU5-X Grow Kit 72v, i bought two of them. first one with 3000k with cri 90 and second was 6500k. my plan was to use 6500k for veg and 3000k for flowing, am i wrong on this setup and if so how do i need to change this up? Thank you so much for inspiring me on this diy project. Thank you for all you do
p.s hope i didnt wast my money :(
hey, i'm atm trying to get the dimming part working from my arduino but the schemes that SD is giving aren't working i saw you made a post in dec on the forum , did you get to fix it with the opamp? and i'm more a programmer don't have eletronics background so would be generous if you could show the schems in layman words(or pictures)
    Sincerely thanks big fan (y)
Hey growmau5 I've decided to build a diy. One of yours actually, it's your 4x4 12 cob cxb3590 but I was wondering if I could add another hlg240-1050B and add another 4 cob in total. 2 stacked in between each main stack alternating 3000k and 6000k while the main stacks use 3500k. Any help would be great I do have a drawing of the layout I'm looking to do
Hello Growmau5. I am gonna build a veg light for a roughly 3sqft area. I will use 5 cxa2530 and a MW driver ELG-150-C500B. any suggestion on what color I should use? I will only use it for veg I am building another similar one with 3500K or 3000K depending on what jerry can get a hold of. Thanks

Growmau can you tell me which heat sinks will work with cree cobs 3590 I have built 5 units with heat sinks and looking to expand without all the weight and I've been on cutters website and there are so many options don't know which ones to purchase. Also I am using the angelia holders and white plastic cones
    thanks in advance
just shooting u some DGC love homie,u know i finnaly had to re-do my room with the new cob setup..took down the 2400 watts Hortilux and got 1600 watt cob top bin,the far reds after flower and taking a week or 2 off for the 365nm and IR monos mixed up..and its hard to not think of u all the time lol,ur the reason along with GG tht ive come so far..just wanna say Thanx
Hey growmau5. Can you give me your opinion if you think going to the cxb 3590 3500k top bin is worth the price increase over the cxa 3070 top bin? $53 vs $22.5 i ask you because i know you have experience in both and i trust your advice. Thanks
What's up I have a HLG-320 C2000A from mouser. Did I make a stupid move buying that. What can i do with it. I really need your [email protected]. you can get me there to.

you can run a couple vero29. or do a build with wiring cobs in parallel with fuses on each led to protect them from over current
Thanks for the advice. I will go with 16 cobs for a 4x8 area on a light rail. I have a 10x16 area so i will break thst down into 4-4x8 areas. Thanks again. By the way keep those youtube videos going. Cant wait to see some more.
I was thinking i might be able to get away with 12 cobs on a light rail but was thinking more like 16 but what i really want is that 800 to 1000 par or ppfd. I remember you replying to a guy saying 1 cob per sq foot would be amazing. Also whats your take on a glass lens compares to a reflector compared to running them bare?

i would do 12 cobs min to cover that space. probably at something like 1750ma thats only 750w. 16 cobs would give you 1000w which would be more ideal
Hey just wanted to say thanks for all the youtube videos and your help on here. Can i get some pro advice from you? Im trying to decide how many cobs i should use on a 4x8 area? I plan on using a light rail also but only plan on using about 2 ft of that lightrail. I also plan on adding a few red, far red and uv led lights. What do you think? Thanks
Would you recommend using a heatsink wider than 10" for a 2x4 grow area.

What do you think about this cob spread in 2x4 area.

Pretty ironic you are talking about citizen... I've been following your YouTube for about 5 weeks now, and the past week I have set the ball in motion to build my light; after being taught an insane amount from your videos. And I as well will be using citizen for the time being! I truly appreciate the time you have taken to share your knowledge it has been a tremendous help!
Those mounting plates/holders and bottom cover plates are dope! Is that 1 inch 80/20? Any chance of getting a copy of those cad files so we can get our own jetted locally? Also, do you have dimensions of heat sinks?
