How tell when the buds is curing and ready to smoke ?

This May look stupid like question but Can you get high when we smell the buds because I just checked the buds in the jar and smell it ,strong odor and get me a Little high ? Wtf that normal :o:-(

It will be 2 week I started curing my buds and I smoke one of them for test what he taste, good high but terrible headache, why ???
