If you were using an electronic/digital ballast with that HPS, the RF frequency they emit might've affected said monitors.

the screw on part? sometimes that gets really fucked with sticky trichomes... a cotton swab or "Q-Tip" doused in rubbing alcohol can fix that. The q-tip and alcohol also works well for sticky scissors.

Sounds like you need to fashion your own grow box. I dont know of any tents like the one you describe.
