You can, but you should probably try organics. Using a "balanced" fertilizer probably won't fix your potassium deficiency though. Try something like "Technaflora" 1-1-16 water soluble seaweed extract.

Pretty sure having a smaller reservoir just means you need to change more often, the TDS/PPM shouldn't be any different from a 1,000 gallon reservoir. If your other plants are doing fine with low dosage, then just see how that one does if you up it to ½.
