    Water cooled COB Build/pic heavy

Well the reason why I'm interested is because it also heats up the res which at times (for me) is not warm enough.

    Water cooled COB Build/pic heavy

I'd like to try this one day. Maybe have the water pumped around to cooler areas.

    Water cooled COB Build/pic heavy

How's that? I was under the impression that ~20 gallons of water could easily cool up to a 500W worth of cobs without heating up the water too much (since specific heat capacity of water is very high) to degrade nutrients.

Bad News About LED vs HPS

My guess is that happens only when only green light is provided in isolation.

    Water cooled COB Build/pic heavy

This probably sounds stupid but how effective would it be to run multiple high power cobs that are run through with the water that fills the hydroponic reservoir? Heat the water, cool the chips. I had this in the back of my mind for several years.

Bad News About LED vs HPS

I don't think that's true. The plant benefits from all the colours but not all are necessary even for CO2 uptake. CO2 uptake is regulated by stomatal contractions which is affected only by temperature and humidity afaik. Regardless of which color you provide, the end result is the same...

Using a phone charger as LED power supply?

How did you burn them out? I'm not sure if my strips are gonna last as long as they are supposed to. I mounted them on 1/8" wooden board and it gets hot around 40C/104F. I don't think I can even add a heat sink at this point.

Using a phone charger as LED power supply?

Thanks. I didn't wanna peel it off cuz I'm afraid the adhesive might wear off and I might damage the chips because the strip layer in between is really, really thin and looks fragile. Also, I don't know what to put as replacement. Not too bothered either. I'm testing the vegetative phase of...

Using a phone charger as LED power supply?

Had a minor fuck up. The strips were supposed to be alternating but somehow I put them in 2's.

scientists resurrect 30000 year old plant

Chromosomal differences. Basic genetics. A thousand hybrids from a billion generations is still a rare event. There's a reason why hybrids aren't that common in nature and why parents of a hybrid have different characteristics, fit for their specific environments. Seems you don't know that...

scientists resurrect 30000 year old plant

Until they find a living thing that's not made of cells. Off topic but, its detrimental to scientific advancements to nullify certain aspects of a concept based solely on previous understandings of how it works. For many centuries scientists thought that an object sitting still on the ground is...

scientists resurrect 30000 year old plant

The most common result is a sterile offspring, followed by severe defects. Unique adaptations are relatively rare but possible.

The new and modernized Russian Combined Arms forces are a very credible threat vs NATO, others

Would be better not to criticize content as assumptuous especially when the critique itself is an assumption. :D I'm just saying the defense industry is no different than any other industry - they all create jobs. Quite contrary to what many others think that "money is wasted in the defense...

The new and modernized Russian Combined Arms forces are a very credible threat vs NATO, others

You'd have to ask the locals. Afaik, the main frame as well as all the subsystems on Russian warships, are contracted to local Russian manufacturers which means that very large portions of the $6.2b are going into the pockets of Russian people who are kept employed by these types of investments...

The new and modernized Russian Combined Arms forces are a very credible threat vs NATO, others

All of that also expands the economy. Somebody is contracted to man it, to maintain it and to break it apart. Services are rendered and paid for just like any other part of the economy. Some spend lots on it, some not a lot. % of GDP imo is a useless indicator.

The new and modernized Russian Combined Arms forces are a very credible threat vs NATO, others

What's the point of spending money on infrastructure if there is no industry there to utilize it? What's the point of paying tuition for an engineer if there is no job for him? Funding the industry, whether defense or not, is what creates jobs and drives the economy. Take a look at the United...

The new and modernized Russian Combined Arms forces are a very credible threat vs NATO, others

Well, technically, it doesn't really matter that much if a certain % of the GDP is spent on military instead of public works, as long as you are purchasing from local buyers. All the money spent on military equipment is going from your budget back into your economy to pay for the services...
