As Fran pointed out lots of light wasted to the sides. I wouldn't use them to flower but they work for veg. For flower I'd definitely use something more intense.

I've used a hand pump with the food saver mason jar attachment to use the normal lids. Just wrap the heating pad around the jar. Worked pretty damn good for a little diy rig though max vac was I think -27.5. So yeah not ideal, but was better than nothing though. LOL

Yeah if you have multiple strains try them all. Some yield great, some essentially nothing. You really need to apply pressure. I lean on mine, some stand, some use a vice, vice grips, jacks. Anything to apply pressure and you need plenty of pressure.
