    Built my first grow light...

Thanks! I let it run for 16 hours straight yesterday in a room with ambient temps at about 68f and the heat sink warmed to a temp that was just barely noticeably above ambient. Even after running all day, you can put your finger right on one of the led's and it isn't hot at all.

    Built my first grow light...

What do you mean by china leds? Are you talking about the cheap no-name ebay stuff or the cree leds that come from china? I bought my Cree grow leds from fasttech that SupraSPL linked to.. (I'm pretty sure he knows what he's doing).. The china leds I was referring to are just for shop...

    Built my first grow light...

After accumulating some experience with shop lighting using china 10w leds from ebay and some aluminum tubing, I decided I was ready to make my first grow light. While I'm not growing the beautiful cash crops you folks are, I figure cannabis is going to want the same fundamentals as peppers...

Need advice on powering leds w/dimmer.

Thanks for the info.. As it turns out, I decided to just go with a cheap china driver.. $10 shipped to my door. Voltage within range and it is constant current at 900mA. I don't want to spend a lot of money.. I'm a bit worried about the quality and energy efficiency of these little china...

Need advice on powering leds w/dimmer.

My application is to start vegetable seedlings and grow them to about 10 inches tall before planting in the garden. They will be planted in standard greenhouse "flats" with 48 seedlings planted in a 11 x 22" flat. I'm making a light bar from five Cree XM-L2 leds (on advice from Supra) and four...

    The Holy Bible

That is a false statement.. The great majority of believers do not "grow out of" their beliefs.. they simply reorganize and reinterpret them in such a way as to make sense to their adult brain.. The basic tenants of the belief system are stronger than ever. People believe in religion for...

Any suggestions for a good LED Trouble Light?

Anyone have any suggestions for a good quality handheld LED trouble light? Looking for something really bright and something that doesn't have the transformer built into the cord plug. Tired of dropping them and busting bulbs while working on equipment.

Difference between high and low quality lights?

I hear a bunch of talk and complaints about low quality lighting... So I have to ask, what is the real difference between a high quality LED setup and a low quality one? Is it just mainly in the LED's themselves? Poor quality is some no-name china import where high quality leds are brand...

LOL. You mean the part where you told me which chip to use? You couldn't have made it any easier if you had copied and pasted a Buy-It-Now button into your post.

That's what I thought.. Have any of you folks tried liquid cooling? I have a bunch of 3/4" x 1.5" rectangular aluminum tube with a .125 wall.. I was going to cut it into 4 foot lengths, tig weld the ends closed, drill and tap for hose barb fitting, and run water through the tube. The...

    DiY LED - Active cooling - CXA3070

So this brings me to the next question... So if we were to consider only the thermal characteristics, what would be better: 1) Thick heavy aluminum with fan or, 2) Thinner aluminum with fan. I'm thinking the thick.. but I'd like to hear others opinions because sometimes these things can be...
