Yes, they will firm up as they cure. The first couple of days after jarring, they're going to moisten up and stick together. Some buds may stick to the glass. Dump them out for an hour or so, or put them in a paper bag for 4 hours if they're really wet. Then back in the jars and check the next...

I would argue that your healthy, happy, huge green fan leaves are doing much more than 'serving no real purpose'. Remember leaves are converting sunlight into growth, even during flowering. The only reason I would remove healthy leaves would be if I was worried about circulation and mold.
