Newbie needs advice on soil mix

I would forget the sand, the peat moss pearlite and vermiculite will handle the drainage, sand tends to clump up and turn into a rock after a few waterings IMHO

outdoor growing in a "ditchweed" rich environment questions.....

thanks drolove, lol. Hermit I have the same stuff. Autos are not my thing either, but worth a shot to allow me a outdoor harvest. Thinking of starting them indoors early in spring then as soon as temps cooperate, plant 15 to 20 plots with 5 seedlings each, should be harvested before the local...

outdoor growing in a "ditchweed" rich environment questions.....

Hey all, tossing around ideas to make a outdoor grow work, when the whole area around me is covered in wild growth ditchweed. My thoughts are that a short grow autoflower could be planted outdoors and be harvested before the natural ditchweed matured enough to start throwing pollen out...

Started my first grow room come along for the ride.

I like your general setup, but think it is going to get real crowded in there when your plants get some size on them, going to be hard to check each plant out daily for problems and to do any trimming etc. my room is almost the exact same size as your room, I wish I had about two more foot of...

Hoping to do small indoor grow in British Columbia - still worried about police

do your thing indoors in your grow tent, tell no one, carry large items into and out of the house when your neighbors are gone or asleep (potting soil, large flower pots, etc.) If you are the only person who knows, it can be a secret, how is a cop going to find it? unless you are thinking of...

    Is it just me..

totally normal, I did all that at first also, now they get checked over very closely once a day, and their needs and wants catered to, other than that I have learned they do better the more I leave them alone, I think they miss me, and want to please me so they grow bigger flowers, LOL. I talk...

    cold night temp delima.

you should be fine with those temps, but I would use the heater, I don't worry about having too low a RH ,ever, too high a RH makes me start worrying about mold and fungus. those may be strains that the stems on the fan leafs turn red or purple as they mature, most of my plants do that...

Humidity, how to raise it, cheap without spending a lot of money?

I know everyone's version of cheap is different, but go out and hit up your local thrift stores, good used humidifiers for 3 to 10 bucks that will keep a decent size room humid. I got one for 6 bucks, that has a built in digital control and humidity sensor, just set it at the rh you want and it...

using a tomato cage for scrog.

bigger pots definately contribute to bigger end yeild, I am finishing up 2 plants now that are in 10 gallon pots, veggged for 3 months before flipping to flower, did this only because I didn't want nice stinky flowers blooming in the house when family came to visit over the holidays, lol.

    Questions about HPS lighting

Hey all thinking of stepping things up a little from my cfl grow and came across a buddy with a deal on high pressure sodium lights, to be exact he has 4- 400 watt apeice high pressure sodium lights and is asking 200 bucks for the works, lights are multitap w/attached ballast and are supposed to...

using a tomato cage for scrog.

although I have not done this myself I have seen alot of other people using these tomato cages, and think they work well to help support the plant, as far as scroging with them I think the wire could become a pain to work around, for watering, trimming, etc. but as long as you have room to bring...

    yield?

I'm probably wasting my time, but what is being said is that all the gear and research you do/have will still not give you a tenth the experience as a couple simple grows will. firsthand realtime knowledge comes from experience. so many factors to consider and so many different strains, we just...

I need help on lighting. First time grow.

I have over 400 actual watts on two plants that are in flower, cfl grow, the plants love it, when it comes to lighting, the more the better imho. the more light you give them the more bud they will give you. I think you need more light myself.

    help me choose a strain

I think you should check out "Money Maker" as a strain, medical quality, feminised, easy to grow, and huge yeilds, out of a medium sized plant, you can look it up at herbies seeds to get the specifics, I have not grown these myself but plan on doing a grow with them soon, hopefully someone here...

    Heading for Colorado -tips?

since you are from East of Colorado, I will give you fair warning that Nebraska cops are stopping and searching 1 out of every five vehicles as people leave Colorado, absolute BS, but thought you may like a heads up on that crappy situation.

    Jumping in

so many variables as far as what you get or don't get for a end result, as far as yield, my best advice is to figure out your yield after it is harvested, dried, and cured. just saying never count your chickens till they have hatched.

    Blue dream appreciation thread

The blue dreams are always popular around here, I had some a while back that must have been crossed with some horny goat weed or something, all I can say is every female that hit that stuff got horny as heck.

how much longer till my girls finish the seedlings stage?

get a humidifier with a built in humidity sensor, set the humidity where you want it to be, fill the water tank and walk away, the machine will turn on and off to keep the RH right where you want it. simple is always better.
