Had the same thing happen with some bulbs I got from Walmart. These were the 150W Equiv though. I googled at the time and from what I can remember, it was caused by the coating on some brands of bulbs getting hot, and that it's not dangerous.

I am using the 6500's for vegging, but I have a 2700K that is just collecting dust, so should I throw it in the setup, or will it be of no use at this early stage?

In first week of vegging from seeds, and in my current setup I am using 8 27W 6500K CFL's. I also have a single 42W Gen Purpose (I assume to be 2700K), but it is not being used. Should I go ahead and throw the 2700K in now, or will it only be a waste of electricity due to the lack of that...

No updates in a month? I was reading this entire thread this AM and was hoping for a big payoff, since I'm using a very similar setup, and am in my first week of vegging. Hope all is well.
