Best Value LED lights for a 4x4?

3x2 6063 Al rectangular tubing with either 40mm 8k rpm fans in the ends and a vent in the middle or an 80mm fan in the middle blowing out both ends. Frankly passive cooling might work with a large enough rail or pipe, I have to test this. I've got 200w of blurple 50w COBs cooled to Tj 55C on a...

Best Value LED lights for a 4x4?

I'd buy 12x Samsung inFLUX L09 strips (SL-B8T7N90L1WW, $27.295 each at Mouser) and 6x Mean Well HLG-185H-48A ($23 ea at BG Micro) and have 800W at the LEDs giving 110,000 lm at 137 lm/W with no BS dimming for ~$500 delivered, spend the rest on good wire, screws and some stout Al rails to screw...

    Ventech 6" fan fried

I know some people who like the VENTS-US 327 CFM duct fans, sold at Home Depot. You can pay a lot more and if they have a (real) high MTBF rating they may be worth it. Blowers that need to be fail safe have a built in tach which can shut things down if it stops spinning. An of course its always...

    Reflectors -vs- Lenses

Most all glass lens I have seen are very poorly engineered and without the use of really high grade ultra clear borosilicate (rare) they absorb 5-7% of the light and heat quite a bit. Also I have some 4:1 blurple 50W COBs and the colors do not blend in the std Chinese glass 44mm lenses, there...

    LED Companies w/ LINKS

looked up at my local (OR) Home Depot and spotted these sure enough they are from low ball light Mfg Feit Electric only $3.60 /$2.63 per watt for the red and white LEDs respectively...LOL

    Lets Talk Inexpensive PAR Meters....

if you know the spectral distribution of your lights (easily gotten with a $10 spectrometer*) you can generalize the response of a cheap LUX meter (usually centered at 550nm) to be equivalent to a true quantum meter for simple analyses like light distribution. I'd only think of a quantum meter...

UV, IR, How much, for how long?

As an aside, many of the high CRI white LEDs (93-97) add quite a bit of long wavelength red (as well as blues) as a means of boosting their CRI. HP mercury discharge lamps are very good sources of UVA/UVB (400-320nm and 320-290nm respectively) and often quite cheap

PWM dimming does nothing for LED efficiency (lm/W)

(I think) So a lot of people here speak of dimming their COBs to get more efficiency (lumen/watt or lm/W) and while it is true that lowering the Vf (or current) of an LED will increase its efficiency like this: the typical dimming circuit incorporated in many power supplies is a pulse width...

DUET 2400 (LED FIXTURE) - UP TO 2400 WATTS (Flip Chip Opto)

To make a simplistic analysis, the power density at the thermal interface tells you a bit about how hard its going to be to cool a given LED. so Watts / surface area (SA) of the pad shows how much heat is going to have to be pumped to the heatsink/water pipe/air to keep the chip from cooking...

    LSD Power Drivers

as I said the spec for lighting industry 0-10V dimming is a tiny 2 mA! you'd have resistor losses but a smoke alarm 9V could last a good long time, of course the little Mean Well 12v supply is only $5 and you can just forget about it...

DUET 2400 (LED FIXTURE) - UP TO 2400 WATTS (Flip Chip Opto)

IMHO trying to duplicate SOL (point source LED COB at 500-2400W) is just silly as you run into similar heating issues ;) with uneven light distribution. Its much better to distribute your LEDs over the entire grow area; everything is better with a multitude of light sources.

    LSD Power Drivers

0-10V dimming is spec'd at 2mA per unit so this little (85mA) Mean Well $5 unit can provide enough juice to dim 40 power supplies! http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Mean-Well/IRM-01-12/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMuWiaalG5TUgO6fhgi59iJoYR4FH4stG3M5nBBGPjnlgA== its not in stock but this bigger (250mA) one is...

    Promising DIY units, MUST SEE.

Very nicely engineered lights, i appreciate the flexibility of cooling options. He says retail will be $1800 for the base unit which I imagine will be the ducted version. The light output is probably a bit more than the Fluence SPYDRx PLUS ( ~600w output for $1500) as he is running 4x...
