First attempt at Aeroponics. First grow in 2 years!

Would you please talk about the microcontroller set up? It looks like an arduino but I can't see the details in the photos. I am working on a raspberry pi using python language to control my room. Always want to hear more.

Can 700 watts of LED strips grow trees???

Great haul. Have you smoked either or is that a dumb question?

Can 700 watts of LED strips grow trees???

Way to go. Job done right. That is some weighty looking shrubbery. Looking forward to some summary stats.

Fencepost Flood for perpetual lollipop SOG?

I am curious, Oldgrowth or Dudley, are you using the rails for small plants or for larger ones?

Have not tried any buds of your grow - that is discipline.

Man-hours per week for steady SOG perpetual?

Thanks for you reply, Cindysid. That does help. I understand the need to be diligent, but I am shooting for automation due to my limited access. Though I have may things to consider, I am looking into using an Arduino. Programming wouldn't be a far reach for me. In fact, there are visual...

I am wondering, have you tried any?

Can 700 watts of LED strips grow trees???

Oh so jealous. I keep thinking about your production if you had a perpetual SOG system where the plants are mainlined into one stock.

Man-hours per week for steady SOG perpetual?

I saw the trim bag online. I like the idea of trimming dry bud but hope it doesn't have to be too dry. I have been looking for an image of what is inside the trim-bag but no luck. I figure I could make my own and wonder if the inside has a fabric mesh that snags the leaves. As far as...

Man-hours per week for steady SOG perpetual?

My seeds came in and once I get some producing mothers I can start measuring activities. I am definitely going to get a bud trimmer. I have looked at several of the manual kind - salad bowl dome spinners. They seem to work well and also be a good bang for your buck considering the labor...

Can 700 watts of LED strips grow trees???

BGT - How are you Platinum Blues? I was reading about the power supplies and LCD displays you spoke of earlier on this post. Did you get one of the displays? Can you tell us what how much power you are using and how it comparable to the specs of the LEDs. I am wondering if LCD displays...

Gotta say, those plants and the set up are magnificent.

Can 700 watts of LED strips grow trees???

I am sure it does age the bulbs, I think the article says it does. But I have only had two go dim in 16 months of non-continuous grow. I will look to see if I have a spare non-overdriven one and compare. I will send photos if I do. If I have a spare, I would want it to be of the same ballast...

Can 700 watts of LED strips grow trees???

Thanks for the reply, guys. I just need to bite the bullet and go COB. As for 'Overclocking' the fluorescent lights, 'Overclocking' isn't the best technical term. People use 'Overdriving' instead (and the best term to search). Basically you are increasing the current per bulb to make them...

Can 700 watts of LED strips grow trees???

Do you think the side lighting is worth it? When I say that I mean, when you compare yours to other same strain grows, are you seeing more side weight / buds? When I switch to COB, I will have several 4 ft 4 bulb overclocked fluoros I am thinking of using as side lights.

Man-hours per week for steady SOG perpetual?

Thanks, Uncle Buck. That is helpful. Anything change in design or behavior in particular that saved big on effort for some of the tasks? I looked into those Boveda packs and that may be a viable option to reduce workload. I need some further reading and verify my assumptions vs some examples...

Man-hours per week for steady SOG perpetual?

My internet searches showed nothing on Gavita Bags - only Gavita lights and accessories. Can you give some detail, Jimmy?

Fencepost Flood for perpetual lollipop SOG?

I copied the spraybars I saw in a hydroponic store that were just 1 inch PVC with small holes (like 5/64 inch) so the water spray was actually a stream. The stream would hit against the wall of the fencepost tube and spatter thus drenching the roots. I asked and they said the holes were laser...

Man-hours per week for steady SOG perpetual?

Thanks, Vilify. That is what I am looking for: roughly what does it take to maintain a 4 x 4 SOG. I am not trying to figure cost or some oz/per man-hour, but, because there is logistics involved, my time has to be well spent. Information would help me strategize, design the system, and plan...

    Ultra Stealth DIY Basement Room

That type of fan speed controller is the best type of option for controlling fans. Using a light dimmer is a cheap option, but light dimmers make your fan hum and eventually fail. Lots of posts (here and other forums) about light dimmers making fans hum. What you have is a Variable...
