I'm still not seeing the validity of his point. Men and women work together in stressful situations all of the time, and it doesn't automatically lead to rape. Why do you act like it's obvious that being in combat together will lead to rape?

I already said that I don't buy the numbers, so I'm talking hypothetically. Can you explain why you think that rape of women soldiers is something that should have been expected by the liberals? You guys seem to think that it's very apparent. What is it that causes these hypothetical rapes? Proximity? Stress? Something else?
how about the fact that a bunch of power hungry asswipes are stuck in foriegn countries with no pussy to call there own.

Hey, I know... why don't you pull your head out of your ass. You quote me, then give this bullshit, as if I buy everything that is on NPR. The post you quoted by me even says that I don't buy those numbers. :dunce:
Yeah, I saw that you said and my response and reason for the quote was directed at your response to Vi, not the NPR portion. And it wasn't bullshit, my claim of bias has 50 times more validity than the endless and flaccid attempts on this forum and by the Obama administration to discredit Fox News. The LAST bastion of journalism.

Why do you act like it's obvious that being in combat together will lead to rape?

Can you explain why you think that rape of women soldiers is something that should have been expected by the liberals?
I guess you mean, OTHER than the fact that the generals, military leadership and pretty much every expert that matters, said that this is PRECISELY what would happen? You know, all the people the progressives ignored, who were actually in positions to analyze the likelihood of these scenarios and publicly and loudly protested the integration of women in those roles. That's why its OBVIOUS.

As to your second question, nope, sure can't explain it. I can't explain why a great deal of human atrocities and violence occur either. But, that doesn't keep it from happening. However, there are a great many of experts who can and did explain why it would happen. Not pipedreaming liberal douchebags with no concept of what happens in combat, who couldn't see past their quest for political correctness, no... experienced soldiers who know what happens in war, know what happens when you put men in those situations and KNOW what would happen if women were introduced to that environment. But, PC and progressivism won out. But again, to simply answer your question, they should have expected it because they were TOLD TO EXPECT IT. They just didn't listen... as usual.

I don't trust either side. I listen to all kinds of news, and keep in mind that almost all of them have apparent biases. But, if you think the ones on your side are totally honest and unbiased, that's your choice.

I guess what I'm not getting is that some of you seem to be talking out both sides of your mouths.

You call the whole NPR poll bullshit, but you also want to say 'see, you stupid liberals, we knew this would happen'.

yep
i spent 8 years in
just got out
i call BS
those stats area outrageouse. Anyone who ever served would know that if a female soldier even wispers rape in her sleep the world stops turning. Cid will be up your units ass for months. I had this stat quoted to me while i was recruiting as well
absolute bs
and the subjects of these studies are always "undisclosed"
so you are telling me between 70 and 90 percent of women in the military are either raped or harrased but they cant tell us who. That is laughable. A bunch of x privates or spec 4s who got out and now work at wendys are telling bs stories to feel important again. She is probably sitting at the deep fryer right now telling the high school kids she was the one who captured saddam hussein. Why dont any high ranking female officers have these stories? Do rapist only like privates? That woman actually said her battle buddy was her gun and her knife this looser has seen too many movies

and its a weapon not a gun
that bitch was probably in the coast guard

Actually, I think the numbers are outrageously inflated, as I stated in my first post. I do not doubt for one second that incidents of rape occur, but nowhere near the percentages described by the survey. Regardless of the actual number, the responsibility lies firmly with the progressives that ignored the actual experts and put these women in the position to be raped for the sole purpose of political correctness. While the guilty soldiers bear personal responsibility and will most likely be prosecuted, they were equally betrayed by the foolish policies that made the rape possible in the first place.

I see the exact same scenario about to happen with the don't ask, don't tell policy. Once again, we are ignoring the experts in the military that continue to warn us of dire consequences. So, when the assaults and murders start rolling in, and all the libs who made it possible start saying "I don't understand why this has to happen", at least we can say we're progressive. Of course that won't mean much to the dead and incarcerated, but then, these kind of policies aren't really about what is best for the military anyways.

It aint the guys doing all the heavy combat out at the FOBs who are doing it. Its the REMFS back at base.

Really, so is this Wiki piece bullshit?

Today, women can serve on American combat ships, including in command roles. However women are not permitted to serve on submarines or to participate in special forces programs such as Navy SEALs. Women enlisted soldiers are barred from serving in Infantry, Special Forces, Artillery and Armor, however female enlisted members and officers can hold staff positions in every branch of the Army except infantry and armor. Women can however serve on the staffs of infantry and armor units at Division level and above, and be members of Special Operations Forces. Women can fly military aircraft and make up 2% of all pilots in the U.S. Military. Although Army regulations bar women from infantry assignments, some female's are detailed to accompany male infantry units to handle searches of Iraqi women.

Go back and read my post again. I clearly said UNINTENDED consequences. Our government officials from all sides continually promote "good ideas" and we pay the consequences later.
